  • Opening point spread: Texans -6
  • Opening moneyline: Texans -275/Jets +225
  • Opening total: Over/Under 37 points scored
  • Time: 1 p.m. ET Sunday (CBS)

UPDATE 10:15 A.M. ET SUNDAY: Houston opened -6 and initially nudged up to -6.5 Monday at Caesars Sports. But by Wednesday night, the line was down to Texas -3.5, with a few stops along the way.

Houston is now -3 (-120) while taking 85% of bets, but just 58% of money.

Part of the dip in the spread, along with a drop in the total from 37 to 33 by Tuesday (now 33.5), is foul weather. There's a 100% chance of rain at MetLife Stadium today, along with 10-15 mph winds.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET FRIDAY: This line has fallen off significantly at BetMGM, after opening Texans -6 Sunday night. Houston dipped to -6/-5.5 Tuesday, then -4.5/-4/-3.5 (-115) Wednesday. On Thursday, Houston went to -3.5 flat.

Line movement notwithstanding, spread ticket count is 5/1 and spread money 2.5/1 on the Texans.

BetMGM's total opened 36.5, fell back to 34.5 by Monday, then tumbled further to 33 by Tuesday. Ticket count is 2/1 and money 3/1 on the Under.

Weather is likely contributing to the slide in the spread and total. There's a 100% chance of rain Sunday at MetLife Stadium. along with winds of 10-20 mph.

UPDATE 10 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Houston (7-5 SU/6-6 ATS) continue to be a surprising part of the AFC playoff picture. In Week 13, the Texans held off a hot Denver squad 22-17, cashing as 3-point home favorites.

New York (4-8 SU/4-7-1 ATS) mustered just two field goals and a safety in Week 13. The Jets lost a rock fight to Atlanta 13-8 catching 2 points at home.

There's been no movement tonight on the Texans-Jets spread or total.

Texans vs Jets Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

I probably don't need to tell you the Jets offense is terrible. They rank last both rushing and passing over the past five weeks and Zach Wilson isn't exactly going to fix that, especially with Houston's defense trending up. The Texans' defensive line should wreak havoc, and the Jets are averaging under 10 PPG over their past six games.

So can the Texans get to 24? You'd think so, but Houston has been at 22 or below in all but four games, and don't forget that the Jets defense is still the best unit on the field. The pass defense remains spectacular and has completely befuddled elite quarterbacks. C.J. Stroud has been incredible as a rookie, but he could be in for a rude awakening on the road.

This still looks like an under play, even at the reduced total. Unders at 37 or below over the past four calendar years are 28-7-1 (80%), and they're 16-4-1 (80%) with a total at 38 or below entering this week. All the better for the under if we get some weather to muck things up too.

Pick: Under 33.5
