  • Opening point spread: Dolphins -2
  • Opening moneyline: Dolphins -130/Patriots +110
  • Opening total: Over/Under 45.5 points scored
  • Time: 8:15 p.m. ET Sunday (NBC)

UPDATE 6 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM opened the Dolphins at -2.5 (-105) and has been at -3 flat since Wednesday. Miami is taking 60% of spread tickets, but spread money is almost even. However, much like the Cowboys, Dolphins moneyline is a popular parlay play.

"The biggest need for the sportsbook will likely be the Patriots on Sunday Night Football," BetMGM trading team lead Seamus Magee said. "New England pulling the upset would cancel many parlays."

UPDATE 4 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Miami hit TwinSpires' NFL odds Week 2 market at -2, advanced to -2.5 and just ticked up to -3. Early tickets are running 3/1 and money beyond 5/1 on the Dolphins.

"Lopsided tickets and money on Miami. The home 'dog on prime time will be a massive need," Lucas said.

The total hasn't moved off 46.5 at TwinSpires, with 61% of bets/67% of money on the Over.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Miami (1-0 SU and ATS) notched a solid Week 1 road victory. The Dolphins went to Los Angeles as 3-point 'dogs and got a last-minute TD to win a 36-34 shootout against the Chargers.

New England (0-1 SU and ATS) spotted Philadelphia a 16-0 first-quarter lead, then rebounded to make a game of it. Still, the Pats fell 25-20 getting 3.5 points at home.

"I think the Dolphins surprised some people today, with Tua Tagovailoa outdueling Justin Herbert and the Chargers," Michaelson said. "This line is similar to our lookahead, with the total going up a half-point after the shootout in Los Angeles. As a standalone Sunday night game, we will almost certainly need the home 'dog.

"The public will likely have moneyline parlays tied to the Dolphins, as all week the narrative will be about how good Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill looked."

Dolphins vs Patriots Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

The home team usually wins in this rivalry. Both teams have won eight of the past 10 at home. The Patriots offensive line is a mess. Both guards are banged up, and both tackles may be out. Miami may be without stud LT Terron Armstead again, too.

Bill Belichick gets to face the league's hottest, most unstoppable offense, an attack no one seems to have any answers for defensively. Sound familiar? We've seen this movie before, and we just saw a version of it in Week 1 against the vaunted Eagles offense. Belichick always has a plan, and you just know he spent the past seven months scheming up something good for all this Miami speed.

Bet the under 46.5. Both matchups went under this number last year, and Dolphins game only finished above 47 six times. We also love primetime unders (66% last four years) and home dog unders (61% last two years). Belichick always slows these games down and finds a way to keep them ugly and close.

But if we're going under, I'm getting greedy. Give me Patriots +3, too, both together in a +275 Same Game Parlay. All the Belichick trends as underdogs and after a loss haven't been as reliable without Tom Brady, but the Patriots fit a number of Week 2 overreaction trends and three points is too many in these underdog Belichick spots when he grinds things to a halt. Time to get aggressive.
