2022 Los Angeles Chargers Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 LOS ANGELES CHARGERS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Raiders and Chargers were deadlocked at 9-7 heading into their Week 18 Sunday Night Football matchup last season, with the winner earning a trip to Cincinnati in the first round of the playoffs and the loser going home; and to the majority’s surprise, Las Vegas came out on top, as L.  A. rallied back from a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, but the Raiders still managed to escape with a narrow three-point victory (W, 35-32 OT).

The Bolts’ playoff hopes were ultimately stripped in heartbreaking fashion last year, however, L. A.’s baffling downfall began long before that, as the Chargers already entered Week 18 riding a miserable 5-6 SU and 4-7 ATS skid, which included head-scratching losses to the Texans, Broncos, and Vikings.

The Chargers stand toe-to-toe with all the league's best offensively, highlighted by L. A.’s offense ranking 5th in scoring and 4th in total yardage last season (27.9 PPG, 390 YPG), however, their defense was surprisingly terrible, finishing the year ranked 29th in scoring and 23rd in total yardage (27 PPG, 360 YPG); but if L. A. cleans things up defensively this year, the sky is the limit for this squad.

Best Bet: Chargers to Make the Playoffs (-160)

WIN TOTAL ODDS

  • Over 10.5 (+105)
  • Under 10.5 (-135)

The Chargers’ win total is stationed at OU 10.5 with a moderate lean to the under at -135; and while that’s where I expected the number to fall given L. A. won just nine games last season, the Bolts’ previous campaign struck me as a bit of an outlier, and I think there’s actually a good chance they clear that number with matchups against the Jaguars, Texans, Falcons, Seahawks, Dolphins, Colts, and a handful of 50-50 games filling this year’s docket.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS ODDS TO WIN AFC WEST

+250

The Chargers are listed at +250 to win the AFC West, which is the centerpiece of what is expected to be an incredibly tight division race, with L. A. wedging between the Chiefs (+150) and Broncos (+260) near the top of the board; and the Raiders receiving the best-worst odds to win their respective division at +600.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS ODDS TO WIN AFC CHAMPIONSHIP

+850

The Chargers are Broncos are deadlocked for the third-best odds to win the AFC at +850, which trails only the Bills (+325) and Chiefs (+450) on the preseason totem pole; and while the Bolts’ lofty ceiling is undeniable, I’m not interested in backing them at such a steep price after imploding during the back-half of last season and missing the playoffs.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 57

+1600

The Chargers are listed at +1600 to win this year’s Super Bowl, which is the caboose of a crowded upper-middle tier cluster containing the Niners (+1400), Cowboys (+1600), and Broncos (+1600); and while L. A. probably has the highest ceiling amongst that pack, I still find the price tag is a little steep for a squad that missed the playoffs last season.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS 2022 MVP CONTENDERS & ODDS

Justin Herbert (QB) +900

Khalil Mack (LB) +12500

Austin Ekeler (RB) +15000

Keenan Allen (WR) +20000

Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert is listed at +900 to win this year’s MVP award, which is tied for the fourth-best odds on the board behind Bills’ QB Josh Allen (+700), Bucs’ QB Tom Brady (+800), and Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes (+800); and while Herbert has clearly proven capable of generating MVP numbers, there’s far better value to be found down the list.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (-160) | No (+130)

The Chargers finished third in the AFC West with a record of 9-8 last year, marking the seventh time L. A. has missed the playoffs in the last eight seasons; and while the Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers are all favored to make the playoffs this year, -160 is decent value despite all the heavy-hitters crowding this division.
