2022 Minnesota Vikings Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 MINNESOTA VIKINGS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Vikings finished second in the NFC North with a record of 8-9 last season, which fell five games short of Green Bay for the division crown (13-4) and one game behind Philadelphia for the final Wild Card spot in the conference (9-8); marking the third time Minnesota has missed the playoffs since acquiring QB Kirk Cousins four years ago.

Minnesota’s offense typically isn’t the problem though, as the Vikings ranked 13th and 10th in total yardage (25 PPG, 363 YPG) last season, while scattering impressive shootout victories over the Packers (W, 34-31), Chargers (W, 27-20), and Steelers (W, 36-28) throughout the year.

However, their defense didn’t exactly pull its weight, as the Vikings finished the year ranked 24th in points allowed and 30th in total yardage (25.1 PPG, 384 YPG), leading to losses in four matchups in which their offense generated 26+ PTS; and while such imbalance makes Minnesota an intriguing spot underdog play, it’s certainly not a recipe for long-term success.

WIN TOTAL ODDS

  • Over 8.5 (-140)
  • Under 8.5 (+110)

Minnesota’s win total is stationed at OU 8.5 with a slight lean towards the over at -140, which is a number I’d prefer to stay away from, as the Vikings have tough matchups against the Bills, Cowboys, Colts, Patriots, Eagles, and Packers (2) crowding this year’s slate; but for some reason, I still think they’ll find a way to post a winning record and clear that number.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS ODDS TO WIN NFC NORTH

+275

The Vikings are listed at +275 to win the NFC North, which trails the Packers (-175) by a relatively narrow margin, before hitting steep drop off to the Bears (+900) and Lions (+900); and despite Minnesota standing as the clear cut second-best team in the division, I still don’t find that price tag appealing for a full 17-game comparison against Green Bay.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS ODDS TO WIN NFC CHAMPIONSHIP

+1600

Minnesota is listed at +1600 to win the NFC, which is positioned in a bit of a no-man’s land cluster containing the Eagles (+1100), Cardinals (+1400), and Saints (+1600), with the closest teams bordering each side being the Cowboys (+750) and Commanders (+3000); and while the odds certainly aren’t in their favor, the Vikings still strike me as a decent longshot play on the off-chance they miraculously turn things around on defense, and their offense also continues its upward trend.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 57

+4000

Minnesota is listed at +4000 to win this year’s Super Bowl, which ranks alongside the Patriots (+4000), Saints (+4000), Commanders (+6600), and Steelers (+8000) before hitting the distant longshots beyond +10000; and while the Vikings still strike me as a decent longshot play, I feel much better backing them to sneak out of the conference at +1600, as opposed to also standing toe-to-toe with a heavyweight AFC contender like the Chiefs or Bills at +4000.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS 2022 MVP CONTENDERS & ODDS

Kirk Cousins (QB) +5000

Dalvin Cook (RB) +10000

Justin Jefferson (WR) +15000

Cousins is listed at +5000 to win this year’s MVP award, which is decent value sitting alongside names such as Trey Lance (+4000), Mac Jones (+5000), Matt Ryan (+5000), Tua Tagovailoa (+5000); however, the best Vikings’ award option on the board is probably WR Justin Jefferson to win Offensive Player of the Year at +2000, considering OPOY honors have been awarded to a WR or RB in six of the last nine seasons, and last year, Jefferson finished 2nd in receiving yards and 4th in receptions in just his second season (108 REC, 1,616 YDS).

MINNESOTA VIKINGS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (+100) | No (-130)

The Vikings’ defensive struggles make them very unpredictable week-to-week, and with tough matchups against the Bills, Cowboys, Colts, Patriots, Eagles, and Packers (2) on this year’s docket, it’s probably best to stay away from lines in this department; however, feet to the flames, I’d rather back them to make the playoffs at plus value.
