2022 WASHINGTON COMMANDERS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Commanders finished third in the NFC East with a record of 7-10 last season, falling two games behind Philadelphia (9-8) for the final playoff spot in the conference, which isn’t all that bad considering QB Taylor Heinicke started 15 games under center and Washington was decimated by injury on both sides of the ball.

However, Washington’s record doesn’t quite illustrate how rocky its previous campaign was, as the Commanders’ offense finished last season ranked 23rd in scoring and 21st in total yardage (19.7 PPG, 324 YPG; while on the defensive side, they ranked 25th in points allowed and 27th in yardage per play (25.5 PPG, 5.7 YPP).

Washington has much higher aspirations heading into this year though, as the Commanders elected to bring in former Eagles and Colts’ QB Carson Wentz this past offseason, who was slightly disappointing in his first campaign with Indy, however, he might still be capable of providing a spark for Washington’s offense that’s ranked bottom-ten in the league for four straight seasons.

WIN TOTAL ODDS

  • Over 7.5 (-130)
  • Under 7.5 (+100)

The Commanders’ win total is stationed at OU 7.5 with a slight lean towards the over at -130; and regardless of where your opinion falls within the spectrum on Wentz, there’s still solid value on the table for a squad that went 7-10 last season, and then made a solid upgrade at the QB position this past offseason.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS ODDS TO WIN NFC EAST

+500

The Commanders are listed at +500 to win the NFC East, which is the third-best odds to win the division a long ways behind the Cowboys (+120) and Eagles (+185), yet narrowly paces the Giants (+650) near the bottom of the barrel; and despite Washington posting five consecutive campaigns with a record under .500, I’m still relatively fond of backing this new-look Commanders’ squad at +500 after winning the division with a record of 7-9 two seasons ago.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS ODDS TO WIN NFC CHAMPIONSHIP

+2800

The Commanders are listed at +3000 to win the NFC, which assumes the middle ground separating squads like the Cardinals (+1400), Vikings (+1600), and Saints (+1600) from distant longshots such as the Bears (+4000), Giants (+4000), and Panthers (+6600); and rightfully so, as Washington went 7-10 last season, yet boast enormous upside with a new QB at the helm.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 57

+6600

Washington is listed at +6600 to win this year’s Super Bowl, which is decent value if you find Commanders’ futures appealing; as they might not be the best squad on paper, but I’d prefer to roll the dice on Washington being much better with Wentz under center as opposed to taking the Vikings or Saints, who have already demonstrated the height of their capabilities.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS MVP CONTENDERS & ODDS

Carson Wentz (QB) +8000

Chase Young (DE) +15000

Wentz is listed at +8000 to win this year’s MVP award, which is a line most bettors will stay away from, myself included; however, Wentz came very close to winning MVP with the Eagles back in 2017 by leading them to an 11-2 record while throwing for 3,296 YDS and a 33-7 TD-INT before suffering a season-ending injury, so I wouldn’t rule out the notion completely.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS TO MAKE PLAYOFFS ODDS

Make Playoff?: Yes (+175) | No (-220)

After winning the NFC East with a record of 7-9 two years ago, Washington finished third in the division with a record of 7-10 last season, which wasn’t all that bad considering the Commanders’ several health misfortunes, as they landed just two games behind Philadelphia for the final Wild Card spot in the conference; and despite the odds being stacked against them heading into this season, I’d still rather back them to make the playoffs at generous plus value as opposed to missing at a much steeper price point.
