CHICAGO BEARS vs. GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING PREDICTION

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense sorely missed Davante Adams in their Week 1 matchup against Minnesota, as Green Bay scored just seven points on 338 total yards and turned the ball over twice in an ugly 23-7 loss to the Vikings this past Sunday. However, Matt LaFleur’s squad is no stranger to abnormally slow starts, as Green Bay posted a miserable 38-3 road loss to New Orleans in Week 1 last season before ultimately going on to win 13 of their next 16 games to claim the top seed in the NFC.

The Bears, on the other hand, knocked off San Francisco in a fluky slip-and-slide game in Week 1, as Chicago tallied just 204 total yards against the Niners’ 331 total yards during a torrential downpour this past Sunday, and somehow, still escaped Soldier Field with a 19-10 victory.

I’ll take the over here, as Green Bay and Chicago both had underwhelming offensive outings in Week 1, however, the Bears have still scored 22+ PTS in five of their last eight contests dating back to last season, which already includes an impressive 35-point performance against the Packers (L, 45-30); and I also expect Green Bay’s offense to bounce back with a strong showing after generating just seven points on 338 total yards in Minnesota last week.

Score Prediction: Packers 27, Bears 20
Best Bet: Over 41.5 (-110)

CHICAGO BEARS BETTING ANALYSIS

Chicago finished third in the NFC North with a record of 6-11 last season, as the Bears jumped out to a solid 3-2 start to the year, however, their playoff hopes were incredibly short-lived thanks to a miserable 3-9 skid down the stretch.

The jury is still out on second-year QB Justin Fields, but his rookie campaign wasn’t exactly promising, as Fields completed just 59% of his passes for 156 PYPG to go along with seven touchdowns to ten interceptions, ranking the Bears’ offense 27th in scoring and 24th in total yardage (18.3 PPG, 307 YPG). Fields still has plenty of time to grow and develop, but ideally, you’d like to see much better numbers from a squad that’s supposedly found its franchise quarterback.

GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Green Bay won the NFC North with a record of 13-4 last season, which barely beat out Tampa Bay for the top seed in the conference, who also finished with a record of 13-4. However, Aaron Rodgers’ second straight MVP campaign came to an abrupt halt in the Divisional Round, as the Packers went in cold after their first-round bye and fell to the Niners in a snowy slugfest at Lambeau Field (L, 13-10).

The Packers traded away an All-Pro wideout in Adams this past offseason, which has depleted their receiving core to the ranks of Allen Lazard, Christian Watson, and Sammy Watkins; and while personally, I still have faith in Rodgers to flip the script again and catapult Green Bay back into NFC contender territory, last week’s seven-point showing against Minnesota doesn’t exactly support that notion.
