ARIZONA CARDINALS vs. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS BETTING PREDICTION

Arizona takes the short jaunt to Las Vegas for Week 2, as the Cards try their hand against another AFC West opponent. The Cardinals were thrashed by the Kansas City Chiefs in Glendale, falling behind as much as 37-7, before scoring some oh-by-the-way touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the score look slightly better than it really was. Still, the Cards were whipped 44-21 on their own field, and go into Week 2 looking for vast improvement.

Speaking of improvement, Raiders QB Derek Carr needs to some. He was atrocious in a 24-19 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. While the score doesn't seem that bad, and it wasn't, thanks to the defense, Carr had three interceptions and looked confused most of the day. And while the defense hung in there and gave the team a chance to win, it still did allow three passing touchdowns to QB Justin Herbert, while coughing up 355 yards through the air.

The Raiders actually gained 5.7 yards per play last week, to just 5.5 for the Chargers. That's reason for optimism, and Carr should be licking his chops facing a Cardinals pass defense which was ripped apart by Mahomes and company. Carr and new offensive weapon WR Davante Adams just didn't have the preseason reps together in game action. Look for those two to continue to jell, and what better way to come together than the home opener.

Bet on black, not red, to win straight up, although the Cards should keep it close.

Score Prediction: Raiders 31, Cardinals 27
Best Bet: Cardinals +6 (-115)
Best Bet: OVER 51.5 (-105)

ARIZONA CARDINALS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Cardinals just weren't prepared for the onslaught they faced against the Chiefs and their pass game. Kansas City outgained Arizona 488-to-282 in total yards, despite running just three more plays. The Chiefs had a decisive advantage in first downs, 33-to-18, while Arizona actually had more drives (11) than Kansas City (10). The Chiefs had more big plays, averaging 9.2 yards per pass, too, while the Cardinals managed 4.5 yards per pass. Imagine how bad things would have been if Arizona didn't win the turnover battle 1-0.

The Cardinals have managed to go just 1-6 ATS across the past seven games dating back to last season, while going 0-4 ATS in the past four games on a grass surface. The good news is that getting out of the desert...well, their desert...and hitting the road might be a good thing. Arizona is 18-7-2 ATS in the past 27 games on the road, and 17-6-3 ATS in the past 26 as a road 'dog. They're also 6-2 ATS in the past eight games overall as an underdog.

Arizona is, or should be, a high-octane offense, but lately that hasn't translated in terms of the totals. The UNDER is 4-1 in the past five road games dating back to last season, and 13-4 in the past 17 games in the month of September, although the OVER easily hit in Week 1. The UNDER is 8-3 in the past 11 as a home 'dog, too, but can this pass defense actually stop anybody?

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Raiders were dead-even with the Chargers last week with 18 first downs apiece, while actually managing 5.7 yards per play to 5.5 for the Bolts. The difference against the Super Bowl contending Chargers was turnovers, something Carr is aware he needs to clean up. Vegas was a lot more competitive in Week 1 against their AFC West opponent than Arizona was, that's for sure, and being back home in front of the Silver and Black faithful will help.

Vegas is just 0-4 ATS in the past four games as a home favorite, however, and 20-45-1 ATS in the past 66 games overall when favored going back to their days in Oakland. They're also 1-6 ATS in the past seven against teams with a losing record, which Arizona qualifies after going 0-1 after the first game. But that's a trend which is worth noting, but isn't worth hanging your hat on until much later in the season.

The UNDER has connected in five of the past six games overall, while hitting in each of the past four as a favorite. The OVER is 9-4 in the past 13 at home for the Raiders, however, while going 7-2 in the past nine in September, although Week 1 was an UNDER result. The OVER is also 9-3 in the past 12 for the Raiders following a straight-up loss.
