KANSAS CITY CHIEFS vs. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Chiefs have won 12+ regular-season games and reached the AFC Championship four years straight, however, they’ve also become notorious for head-scratching lapses in that same dominance from time-to-time, as Patrick Mahomes and co. scored just 18.5 PPG on 351 YPG across a pair of losses to the Colts and Bills, opposed to racking up 33.3 PPG on 443 YPG in their seven victories.

In the first meeting between these teams back in Week 2, The Chargers jumped out to a 17-7 lead early in the third quarter, but Justin Herbert suffered a rib injury late in the contest, and their offense took its foot off the gas down the homestretch, so the Chiefs ended up escaping with a narrow three-point home victory (W, 27-24).

Kansas City may be known for the occasional blunder, however, nobody rides the rollercoaster quite like Brandon Staley’s squad, as the Bolts racked up 25.4 PPG and allowed just 20.8 PPG across their five wins, opposed to scoring just 18.3 PPG and surrendering 31 PPG in their four losses.

When everything is clicking for this Chargers squad, they’re still one of the most dangerous squads in the league, hands down. However, the problem with that is, they can’t stay healthy, and whenever Justin Herbert and co. appear to be finding their stride, something always seems to go wrong for them.

The final scores of the last four matchups between these teams have been the following: 38-21, 30-24, 34-28, and most recently, 27-24, resulting in an even 2-2 split in the last four meetings between these AFC West rivals.

So, I’ll take the over here, as the Chargers currently lead the league in pass attempts per game at 43.1, and the Chiefs aren’t too far behind at 41 per game, which in turn, creates a bunch of extra clock stoppages and chunk plays to help pump up the score whenever these teams meet.

The Chiefs have pretty much looked like the same ole’ Chiefs through the first half of the season, as Kansas City’s offense lit up the scoreboard for 33.3 PPG on 443 YPG in tough victories over the Cardinals, Chargers, Bucs, Raiders, Niners, Titans, and Jags. But of course, it wouldn’t be Chiefs’ football without the occasional hiccup, as they also averaged 18.5 PPG on 351 YPG across a pair of frustrating losses to the Colts and Bills.

The Chiefs’ offense is always capable of erupting with Mahomes at the helm, highlighted by Kansas City scoring 27+ PTS In six-of-nine games on the way to averaging a league-best 30 PPG so far this season.

So, another big performance appears to be on the horizon heading into Sunday night’s matchup against a Chargers defense that currently ranks 29^th in scoring and 26^th in yards allowed per play (25.3 PPG, 5.8 YPP).

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Chargers have been of the most difficult squads to trust over the last few seasons. However, if there’s one thing they’ve done consistently, they score points against the Chiefs, highlighted by the Bolts racking up an average of 30 PPG in their last four matchups against Kansas City, while on the flipside, allowing a lofty average of 26.5 PPG across those affairs.

Banking on this L. A.  squad to score points feels risky every week, especially with the bar set north of OU 50 for Sunday night’s contest, however, I think the high-scoring H2H trend between these teams is strong enough to warrant an over play in this matchup.
