NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS vs. ARIZONA CARDINALS BETTING PREDICTION

The Cardinals were widely considered a threat to win the NFC West after jumping out to an impressive 10-2 start last season. But since Week 14 of their previous campaign, this has been one of the worst teams in football, highlighted by the Cards’ miserable record of 5-13 across their last 18 contests, which includes an ugly 34-11 loss to the Rams in the opening round of last year’s playoffs.

Arizona’s struggles typically stem from lapses on the defensive side of the ball, considering the Cardinals’ defense currently ranks 31st in the league in scoring and 21st in total yardage (27 PPG, 356 YPG).

However, their defense still plays well from time-to-time, highlighted by the Cardinals surrendering 20 PTS or less in tough matchups against the Eagles, Seahawks, and Rams early in the season.

But it seems like Kyler Murray and co. always play down to their opponents’ level whenever they receive an adequate effort from their defense, as the Cardinals lost all three of those contests due to their offense generating just 12.3 PPG on the other side of the script in those affairs.

While on the other hand, the last few weeks have been a bit bumpy for Bill Belichick’s squad, as the Patriots followed up a solid 6-4 start to the season with back-to-back losses to the Vikings and Bills in their latest two affairs.

The Patriots’ offense hasn’t played great recently, highlighted by Mac Jones and co. averaging just 18 PPG on 326 YPG across their last two outings.

However, it’s tough to blame the Pats’ offense for their latest struggles when they also surrendered 28.5 PPG on the defensive side of the ball in those contests. Which doesn’t give them much of a chance to match, having scored 27+ PTS just twice so far this season.

I’ll back New England here, though, as Belichick should be able to casually pick apart this porous Arizona defense that’s surrendered nearly 30 PPG across their last six games. And I’m not expecting much of a response from the Cardinals’ offense either after tallying 10 PTS or less in two of their last three contests.

Score Prediction: Patriots 24, Cardinals 20
Best Bet: Patriots -1.5 (-110)

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Patriots stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start after reaching the playoffs with a solid record of 10-7 last year, as New England posted losses in three-of-four games to open this season, while scoring just 18.5 PPG and allowing 24.5 PPG in those contests.

The Pats have slowly turned things around since that opening skid, though, as New England owns a modest record of 5-3 in their last eight games, while scoring an average of 22 PPG and allowing just 16 PPG across that stretch. Which appears to be gradually trending towards the 27 OPPG and 18 DPPG they averaged last season.

Prior to their latest two-game skid, the Patriots had won five of their last six contests. And I expect them to return to their winning ways in a matchup that should feel like a breath of fresh air after squaring off against the Vikings and Bills the last two weeks.

ARIZONA CARDINALS BETTING ANALYSIS

Arizona may be down for the count in regards to playoff contention. But it appears the oddsmakers still moderately respect this Cardinals squad, as Arizona hosts a solid New England squad as short home underdogs on Monday night, which is a bit generous for a team that’s 4-8 and lost four of their last five games

The Cards have certainly had their fair share of struggles on offensive side of the ball recently, highlighted by their offense scoring 10 points or less in two of their last three games (12.3 PPG). But I actually think we’ll see them find a decent amount of success against a Patriots defense that’s allowed 24+ PTS in back-to-back contests.

Defensive issues have weighed down this squad more than anything, though, highlighted by the Cardinals surrendering a lofty average of 27 PPG on the defensive side of the ball this season. Which has made things exponentially tougher for this ailing offense.
