TENNESSEE TITANS vs. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS BETTING PREDICTION

Prior to Week 12, Tennessee appeared to be coasting towards an NFC South title, as the Titans followed up an ugly 0-2 start to the season with wins in seven of their next eight games, in turn, lifting Mike Vrabel’s squad to a solid record of 7-3 in a division with no other teams stationed above the .500-mark.

However, their division lead isn’t quite as safe anymore, considering the Titans now enter Sunday following three straight losses to the Bengals, Eagles, and Jags, with two of those defeats coming by wide gaps of 14+ points.

But if Tennessee is going to get back on track with a statement win before the playoffs, I think this week’s matchup against the Chargers is their best chance to do it.

The nature of Tennessee's one-dimensional offense led by Derrick Henry has caused some trouble for them the last few weeks, highlighted by the Titans falling behind early in their last three contests, and never being able to fully recover due to the struggles of their aerial attack.

However, a steady dose of King Henry might be just what the doctor ordered this week, with the Titans set to take a crack at an L. A. defensive front that currently ranks 28th in the league in rushing yards allowed per game and dead-last in yards allowed per carry.

Every game is critical for both of these squads teetering on the edge of playoff contention late in the season. But I would argue that Sunday’s matchup carries even more weight for Tennessee staring down the barrel of a fourth straight loss. Which is why I think we’re going to see the Titans come out and punch them in the mouth early.

So, I’ll back Tennessee to pull off an upset in what, in theory, should be a nightmare matchup for a Chargers defensive front that ranks dead-last in yards allowed per carry (5.4 YPC).

Score Prediction: Titans 23, Chargers 20

TENNESSEE TITANS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Chargers haven’t been able to stop the run all year, but fortunately, the Dolphins’ offense also has no ground game. So, last week’s contest between Miami and L. A. was a match made in heaven.

This week, though, the Bolts won’t get off that easy, as Mike Vrabel’s Titans come to town, who hand the ball to their All-Pro runningback every chance they get. Henry went off for 155 total yards on just 21 touches in a loss to Jacksonville last week. But we still haven’t had the big breakout Tractorcito game yet.

Fantasy Football owners facing Henry this week should beware, though. This could potentially be that big game, as the Titans desperately need a win, and they draw a matchup against one of the worst rush defenses in the league in the Chargers.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Chargers appeared to be drifting towards another meltdown prior to last week, as Justin Herbert and co. entered last week’s matchup against Miami following losses in three-of-four games, bringing their record down to 6-6 on the season, and in turn, booting them of the final Wild Card spot in the AFC.

However, the Bolts bounced back with a 23-17 victory over the Dolphins in primetime, and now everybody is back on the Chargers’ bandwagon. But personally, I’m not buying the excellent defensive performance we saw from L. A. last week.

Even after their latest performance, the Chargers’ defense still ranks 28th in the league in scoring and 30th in yardage allowed per play (25 PPG, 6 YPP), and the injuries continue to pile up. But if they’re able to stifle King Henry and the Titans this week, then maybe I’ll start to believe.
