England vs. Argentina Odds
- Opening moneyline: England +150/Argentina +190/Draw +210
- Opening total: Over/Under 2.5 goals scored
- Time: 3 p.m. ET Wednesday (FOX)
LATEST UPDATE: BetMGM's three-way moneyline is at England +155/Argentina +200/Draw +188, as of 1 p.m. ET, two hours before game time. That's after opening Saturday at England +160/Argentina +180/Draw +210.
Opinions remain split on England vs. Argentina odds. Argentina is edging out England in three-way tickts and money, with Draw a very distant third, per usual.
However, in the To Advance market, bettors are leaning more into the favorite England, which is currently -125 to Argentina's even money.
"It's an interesting one today," BetMGM trading manager Seamus Magee said. "We've taken a lot of action on England to advance and a lot on Argentina in 90 minutes. Our best result is looking like Argentina to advance after extra time/penalty kicks.
"Both teams are about the same in futures, as it stands. So a draw is what we're hoping to see, and then Argentina through in extra time or penalties."
The total is at 2.5 (Under -165), matching the opener and down slightly from the Under -175 earlier today. But it's heavy Over action, per usual, at 82% of bets/76% of cash.
"We'd love to see this one stay Under 2.5 in 90, as well. Preferably a clean sheet, too," Magee said, hoping for a 0-0 regulation tie.
SECOND UPDATE: As of 9 p.m. ET Monday, BetMGM's three-way moneyline is at England +155/Argentina +200/Draw +188. That represents some modest adjustments from the opener of England +160/Argentina +180/Draw +210.
Opinions are definitely split on this match. Argentina is taking 50% of bets/43% of money, while England is netting 37% of bts/44% of money. Draw is picking up the final 13% of tickets and dollars.
BetMGM's To Advance market is at England -125/Argentina even money, matching the opener. England is seeing the second-most tickets and money of the four semifinalists, behind France. Argentina is fourth in tickets/third in money.
OPENING ODDS UPDATE: Sixty years after its only World Cup title, England stands two wins away from finally lifting the trophy again. In Saturday's penultimate quarterfinal, Jude Bellingham's goal two minutes into overtime lifted England over Norway 2-1 as a -110 favorite.
Bellingham scored Three Lions' first goal, as well, saving England's bacon all the way around. After Norway scored in the 36th minute, Bellingham knotted it up at 1 in first-half injury time.
Defending champion Argentina needed overtime, as well, in order to vanquish Switzerland 3-1 as a -145 favorite in the last quarterfinal. Switzerland was down a man after a 72nd-minute red card, with the game tied at 1.
The Swiss still managed to force OT. But Argentina scored in the 112th minute and in overtime injury time. Interestingly, Lionel Messi was shut out, though he's still tied for the Golden Boot lead with eight goals, joining France's Kylian Mbappe.
Late Saturday night, BetMGM opened England vs. Argentina odds at England +150/Argentina +190/Draw +210 on the three-way moneyline. Shortly thereafter, Argentina adjusted a touch to +195.
The To Advance market opened at England -125/Argentina even money, and England adjusted to -130. The semifinal marks the first time Argentina is an underdog in this tournament, after being favored in six straight matches.
BetMGM's total opened at 2.5 (Under -165).
