Tuesday night’s doubleheader of featured college basketball betting matchups tips off in the Cancun Challenge with the Wichita State Shockers taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks from the Harrd Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico.

The top team in the nation will be in action later that night with the Duke Blue Devils hosting Stephen F. Austin.

Playing out of the AAC, the Shockers are off to a 5-0 straight-up start after beating Oral Roberts 68-59 on Saturday. They failed to cover as 16 ½-point home favorites to slip to 2-3 against the spread. The total stayed UNDER 140 ½ points in that game and it has stayed UNDER in four of their first five games. Wichita State is scoring an average of 76.4 points per game and it is tied for 23rd in the nation in points allowed (58.0). Junior forward Trey Wade leads the team in points (12.0) and rebounds (8.0).

The SEC’s Gamecocks improved to 4-1 SU (3-2 ATS) with Friday’s 74-69 win at home against Gardner Webb-Web. They failed to cover as 15-point favorites and the total went OVER 136 points. The total has now gone OVER in their last three contests. Jermaine Couisnard scored 16 points in that latest win. Sophomore guard AJ Lawson leads the team in scoring this season with 17.2 PPG. He also scored 16 points in Friday’s win while shooting just 38.5 % from the field.

The Southland’s Lumberjacks lost to Rutgers 69-57 last Wednesday night as 12-point road underdogs to snap a SU four-game winning streak to start the season. They are 2-1-1 ATS in four games with a closing betting line. The total went OVER or ended as a PUSH in three of the four games. The team is averaging 82.2 points a game with four players averaging at least 10 points a game. Senior guard Kevon Harris leads the way with 19.4 PPG while shooting 48.4 percent from the field.

Duke holds down the top spot in the current AP Top 25 at 6-0 SU. The ACC’s Blue Devils started the season with a big 68-66 victory against Kansas as slight two-point underdogs. They have failed to cover in two of their last three games to fall to 4-2 ATS. The total has gone OVER in four of the six games with a scoring average of 84 points a game. The trio of Version Carey Jr. (18.3 points), Tre Jones (14.8 points) and Cassius Stanley (14.0 points) have led the way.
