LSU TIGERS VS. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS PREDICTIONS

The Tigers and Vols meet for the second time in two weeks. LSU picked up a 79-67 victory on Jan. 8 in Baton Rouge, covering as a 2.5-point favorite as the OVER connected. It was a rare OVER for the Tigers lately, as the UNDERE is 5-1 in the past six games, and 14-2 across the past 16 games overall. LSU has tailed off lately, losing two straight games at home against Arkansas, and at Alabama on Wednesday by a 70-67 count. The Tigers were able to pick up the cover in that Bama game as four-point underdogs at most shops.

Tennessee was taken behind the shed by Kentucky last Saturday, losing 107-79 as 4.5-point underdogs. The Vols rebounded in an in-state battle at Vanderbilt, topping the Commodores 68-60 in Nashville as 6.5-point favorites. The Vols had four players hit double digits in points, winning despite the fact they were ice-cold from the floor at 34%, or 19-of-56, while hitting just 22%, or 5-of-23, from behind the arc. What saved Tennessee's bacon was the fact it hit 86% from the free-throw line, knocking down 25-of-29 attempts with 37 rebounds, while forcing 21 turnovers.

LSU TIGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 15-3
  • ATS: 14-4
  • O/U: 3-15

The Tigers covered at Alabama despite losing on Wednesday, covering a four-point number in the three-point loss. LSU is now 4-1 ATS across the past five outings, and 14-4 ATS in 18 games overall. At no point has LSU failed to cover in back-to-back games this season. LSU will be playing just its fifth true road game this season. The Tigers are just 2-2 SU/3-1 ATS in four games away from home this season, while hitting the UNDER in each of those four games.

LSU is 3-0-1 ATS in the past four games following a straight-up loss. The Tigers have also managed to stack covers, going 13-5 ATS in the past 18 following a cover. The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in the past five games against teams with a winning overall record, while going 7-3 ATS in the past 10 outings on the road. They're also 19-6-1 ATS in the past 26 games overall.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 12-5
  • ATS: 10-7
  • O/U: 7-10

The Vols offense hasn't been crisp lately, but Tennessee has fought hard to win games against South Carolina and Vanderbilt over the past 10 days when struggling. With the offense grinding to a halt, the defense has picked up the pace, sans for the game against Kentucky when the Wildcats went for 107 points.

Tennessee is just 2-3 ATS across the past five games after a 4-0 ATS run from Dec. 11-29. The good news is that the Vols are home, and they're 4-1 ATS in the past five games at Thompson-Boling Arena.

For totals, the UNDER has connected in six of the past seven home games, while going 9-3 in the past 12 games overall. The OVER is 5-1 in the past six games against teams with a winning overall record.

The UNDER is 19-7 in the past 26 games overall for LSU. (AP)

LSU TIGERS VS. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BETTING CONCLUSION

The Tigers have been down a man with G Xavier Pinson (knee) sidelined for the past couple of weeks, and he has been ruled out for Saturday's game. To make matters worse, F Darius Days (ankle) is nursing an injury and he is considered questionable for the outing. If Days cannot play, the Tigers do not have a chance to win this game. Even if Days can go, LSU is having a difficult time on the road, and a trip to Tennessee is not what it needs.

The Vols have had difficulty on the offensive end, too, but they're at home, they're healthy and they're looking for revenge after a tough loss two weeks ago on the hardwood of LSU. Look for Tennessee to pick up the victory, and perhaps these two will have a rubber match in the SEC Tournament later on down the line.
