OKLAHOMA SOONERS VS. AUBURN TIGERS PREDICTIONS

Oklahoma heads to the Plains to battle Auburn, the top-ranked team in The Associated Press' Top 25 rankings. The Sooners are coming off one of their best performances of the season, a 72-62 road victory against West Virginia on Wednesday as 2.5-point underdogs as the OVER connected.

The Sooners shot 51% (23-of-45) from the field against the Mountaineers, and they were a sparkling 95% (21-of-22) from the free-throw line. That masked the fact Oklahoma turned it over 17 times. Oklahoma was able to snag 31 rebounds to just 26 for West Virginia, and will likely need to do that again to have a prayer against Auburn.

The Tigers nearly coughed up the top ranking before the ink was dry on the paper. Auburn was given all it could handle at Missouri in a narrow 55-54 win on Tuesday, coming nowhere near covering a 12.5-point number. Auburn shot just 30% (21-of-70) in the win, including just 21% (6-of-28) from behind the arc. It was lucky to escape Columbia with a win, and it helped Mizzou turned it over 12 times, while Auburn outrebounded the home side by a 45-to-31 margin.

Oklahoma has also lost four of the past five games outright, so it still has work to do before it can be taken as a serious contender again. A win over the current No. 1 team in the nation could restore that faith.

The OVER result against West Virginia last time out snapped a 4-0 UNDER run from Jan. 11-22, an UNDER run which coincided with the team's losing streak. That's because the Sooners produced just 51, 64, 58 and 52 points on offense in that slide. Not good.

The UNDER is 4-1 in the past five games for the Sooners, and 4-1 in the past five after a cover, but the OVER is 9-4 in the past 13 games following a straight-up win.

Auburn saw its 8-0 ATS run come to an end with a non-cover at Missouri last time out, and it wasn't even close. The Tigers were favored by 12.5 points and won by just one. It was a rare UNDER result, too, as the OVER was 5-1 in the previous six outings.

Auburn's 55-point performance was nothing short of stunning, as the Tigers had produced 80 or more points in each of the past six outings, and 70 or more points in 14 straight games from Nov. 26-Jan. 22.

Auburn has posted a 7-0 ATS mark in the past seven against teams with a winning overall record, while going 18-7-1 ATS in the past 26 games at home. The Tigers are 16-5 ATS in the past 21 games overall, too.

OKLAHOMA SOONERS VS. AUBURN TIGERS BETTING CONCLUSION

It is doubtful Auburn struggles with its shot the way it did in Missouri the other night. I expect a more focused attack in this non-conference game at home. Still, I really like what I saw from Oklahoma on the road in West Virginia. Facing the Tigers is a different animal, and a much more stern test, but the Sooners should be able to keep the Tigers within their sights until late in the second half. Oklahoma definitely has the talent in Tanner Groves and Umoja Gibson to give the top-ranked Tigers fits.
