St. Louis Billikens vs Richmond Spiders Predictions

Saint Louis is neck-and-neck with Richmond in the Atlantic 10 standings at 10-5 straight-up in conference play. It comes into Friday night’s contest two and half games off the pace set by Davidson. A rocky 2-3 SU slide over the last five outings have cost the Billikens quite a bit of ground. They did beat Saint Joseph’s by 11 points at home on Tuesday in a game that ended as a PUSH.

The Spiders have slipped to 9-6 SU in conference play with losses to George Mason and VCU as road underdogs in two of their last four games. Richmond bounced back with Tuesday’s 13-point road win over George Washington as a seven-point favorite. It is 4-3 SU this season at home in conference play.

The Billikens won the first meeting this season 76-69 closing as 2.5-point home favorites. The total in that game went OVER the 144-point closing line. I am taking the Spiders SU but with low confidence that they can return the favor on their home court this Friday night. This is a series that has remained rather tight in recent years. However, I do have a good feeling that these two teams can take the total OVER again in the rematch.

Saint Louis Billikens Betting Analysis

  • SU: 19-9
  • ATS: 15-11-1
  • O/U: 14-13

Saint Louis has been one of the stronger teams in the A-10 this season on the court. Betting the Billikens lately has not been a strong play at 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games. They failed to cover in road losses to St. Bonaventure and Davidson as part of this slide. The total has gone an even 3-3 in their last six road games.

Forward Francis Okoro posted a double-double in Tuesday’s win over Saint Joseph’s with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He is the team’s third-highest scorer this season with 10.5 points per game while pulling down a team-high 7.6 rebounds.

Guard Gibson Jimerson has led the way in scoring with 16.2 PPG while shooting 44% from the field and 40.6% from three-point range. Guard Yuri Collins is the third player on the team scoring in double figures with 11.4 points a game. He has also led the way in assists with 8.1.

The Billikens are averaging 78.1 PPG and shooting 46.4% from the field. They have gone 37.3% from three-point range and 76.8% from the free throw line. Saint Louis is averaging 39 rebounds a game with a points-against average of 67.8.

Richmond Spiders Betting Analysis

  • SU: 18-10
  • ATS: 14-14
  • O/U: 12-15-1

The Spiders have been a very shaky bet since late January at 3-4-1 ATS over their past 10 outings. They are 1-2-1 against the closing number in their last four home games. The total went OVER 141 points in Tuesday’s 84-71 victory. It has now gone OVER in three of Richmond’s last four games.

Forward Nathan Cayo had the hot hand in the recent win against George Washington with 19 points. Forward Tyler Burton added 17 points to the winning cause as Richmond’s leading scorer this season. He is averaging a team-high 16.6 points and 7.4 rebounds a game.

You can also add forward Grant Golden to the list of impact players with 14.8 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. Guard Jacob Gilyard rounds out this trio with 12.6 points. He tops the board in both assists (6.0) and steals (3.0) per game.

Richmond is 2-6 ATS in its last eight matchups against Saint Louis. (AP)

St. Louis Billikens vs Richmond Spiders Betting Conclusion

Defense has not been a strong suit for either of these teams this season. Head-to-head over the past 10 meetings, Saint Louis holds the slight 6-4 edge both SU and ATS with the earlier win this season. With the total going OVER in that game, it has now exceeded the closing number in five of the last seven meetings.

Richmond should win this game at home on Friday night but this matchup still remains too close to call. Both current form and recent trends do point to a high scoring affair either way.
