TEXAS LONGHORNS VS. KANSAS JAYHAWKS PREDICTIONS

The Longhorns suffered a 68-61 loss against Baylor last time out on Monday, and they're now 4-3 SU across the past seven outings. That includes a 79-76 win over Kansas in Austin in the most recent meeting on Feb. 7. Timmy Allen was good for 24 points, nine rebounds and a blocked shot on 11-of-17 shooting, while he was joined by three other players with 10 or more points. Texas shot 42% (28-of-67) from the field in the win vs. Kansas, although it hit just 15% (3-of-20) from behind the 3-point line, while going 87% (20-of-23) from the charity stripe. The Longhorns turned it over just six times while outrebounding the Jayhawks 32-29.

The Jayhawks had four players in double digits for points, too, and Kansas shot 58% (28-of-48) from the field while going 38% (5-of-13) from downtown. The difference was at the free-throw line, going just 65% (15-of-23), while turning it over 15 times.

Kansas has lost two of the past three games overall while failing to cover the past three outings. The UNDER is also 2-0 in the past two games for the Jayhawks.

The Longhorns have won just three of the past six games overall, while going 4-3 SU across the past seven outings. That does include a victory against Kansas in the first meeting at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin on Feb. 7. The 'Horns have failed to cover the past four games overall.

Texas is also 1-4 ATS in the past five games against teams with a winning overall record, while going 3-8 ATS in the past 11 games on the road. The Longhorns are 4-9-1 ATS in the past 14 games after a straight-up loss, too.

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 24-6

The Jayhawks snapped a two-game mini skid with a 72-68 victory over TCU on Thursday. However, they're still 0-3 ATS in the past three outings. You only need to look back to Jan. 18-29 for the last 0-4 ATS skid for the Jayhawks.

Kansas is 2-5 ATS in the past seven games against teams with a winning overall record, while going 2-6 ATS in the past eight games following a non-cover.

For totals, the OVER is 24-11-1 in the past 36 games at home against teams with a losing road record, although the UNDER is 5-1 in the past six games following a non-cover.

The road team is 12-3-1 ATS in the past 16 meetings between KU and Texas (AP).

TEXAS LONGHORNS VS. KANSAS JAYHAWKS BETTING CONCLUSION

For whatever reason, the Longhorns seem to have the number of the Jayhawks. Texas has won three straight meetings in this series, and they're 3-0-1 ATS across the past four meetings, and 6-2-1 ATS in the previous nine in this series.

You can expect another close game. Kansas is fighting Baylor for the No. 1 seed in next week's Big 12 conference tournament, so there is plenty of pressure to win this game. And the Jayhawks will also have revenge on their minds after suffering a loss earlier in the season in Austin. I expect both this game, and the Baylor-Iowa State game, to be very close. Take the Longhorns plus the points, as they have really given the Jayhawks trouble in recent seasons. And taking the OVER is a good bet as well.
