Bobby Witt Jr. to Hit a Home Run (+430 | FanDuel) vs. (SP: Kevin Gausman)
First up, we have one of the game’s best shortstops in Bobby Witt Jr.
Although Witt hasn’t put up quite the numbers he did a year ago, where he finished 2nd in the MVP race, the analytical profile is still there as he’s in the 78th percentile or higher with respect to Barrel%, Hard Hit%, xSLG, and average EV via Baseball Savant.
He gets a nice matchup in former ace Kevin Gausman, whose name value carries more weight than his on-field performance at this point. Gausman has always been prone to allowing fly balls, as he has relinquished seven homers in his last ten starts. FanDuel Sportsbook’s +430 number has a lot of value.
Hunter Goodman to Hit a Home Run (+300 | FanDuel) vs. (SP: Andrew Heaney)
The trade deadline came and went, and Andrew Heaney is one of the many potential rentals that is still a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Although Heaney has had his struggles in Pittsburgh, he has consistently flashed potential with high-end stuff. But he still is a member of the Pirates, and it’s been pretty brutal in terms of keeping the ball in the ballpark.
According to Baseball Savant, Heaney is in the 26th percentile or worse with respect to groundball%, hard hit%, and barrel%.
Hunter Goodman has been a lone highlight in an otherwise miserable year for the Rockies. Goodman is currently slugging .511 against lefties. With the game at Coors Field, this game has the potential for a lot of runs, and Heaney might not last long. Generally speaking, Goodman has nearly identical splits against righties and lefties and is a threat to hit the long ball against both sides.
