Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets Betting Predictions

Philadelphia was able to take game two over the Mets with a final score of 4-1. The Phillies had just six hits, but managed four RBIs. Starting pitcher Kyle Gibson last 4.2 innings and allowed two hits and one run. The other five pitchers used allowed two hits and zero runs. Right-handed pitcher Zach Eflin is expected to take the mound Sunday. Eflin is 1-1 in four games this season with an ERA of 3.20 and has allowed 18 hits, seven earned runs, and struck out 15 batters in 19.2 innings of work.

New York struggled to get anything going on Saturday with just four hits and one run. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker had a nice day, giving up just two hits and zero runs in 5.0 innings. The other four pitchers used allowed four hits and four runs. The right-hander Max Scherzer is scheduled to get the start Sunday. Scherzer is 3-0 in four games this season with an ERA of 1.80 and has allowed 11 hits, five earned runs, and struck out 33 batters in 25.0 innings.

I like the Mets in game three with Scherzer taking the mound. He has looked great this season and there is no reason that won’t continue on Sunday. New York has also been good at home this season with a 6-3 SU record, so I don’t think they lose back-to-back here. Backing the Mets –1.5

Going against his trend, the total has gone under in nine of their last 11 when playing on the road against the Mets. Philadelphia has struggled against the Mets as of late, losing four of their last six games to New York.

As a team they have a batting average of .244 (23rd), on base percentage of .318 (10th), slugging percentage of .400 (7th), and have scored 100 runs (4th). Right fielder Bryce Harper has been driving in runs with a batting average of .266 (21-79), three home runs, and 14 RBIs. Designated hitter Kyle Schwarber continues to struggle with a batting average of .164 (11-67), four home runs, and 11 RBIs.

Philadelphia’s bullpen has held opposing teams to three runs or less in five of their last six games. As a team they are holding opponents to a batting average of .232 (13th), have an ERA of 3.89 (21st), and have given up 88 runs (19th). The right-hander Zach Eflin is expected to take the mound Sunday. Eflin is 1-1 in four games this season with an ERA of 3.20 and has allowed 18 hits, seven earned runs, and struck out 15 batters in 19.2 innings of work. In two games against the Mets last season Eflin gave up 15 hits, three earned runs, and struck out 11 batters in 12.0 innings.

New York Mets Betting Analysis

The Mets have had an excellent start to the season and have gone 15-7 SU, 14-8 ATS, and have an O/U record of 8-11-3. New York has gone 4-2 SU in their last six games and 5-2 SU in their last seven games at home. The total has gone under in eight of their last 11 games against Philadelphia.

Aside from Saturday’s game New York has hit the ball well this season. As a team they have a batting average of .255 (2nd), on base percentage of .341 (1st), slugging percentage of .383 (13th), and have scored 98 runs (6th). The second baseman Jeff Mcneil has been solid this season with a batting average of .344 (22-64), one home run, and nine RBIs. Designated hitter Mark Alonso has done a nice job bringing in runs with a batting average of .259 (21-81), four home runs, and 17 RBIs.

The Met’s bullpen has been one of the best in the league this season. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .194 (2nd), have an ERA of 2.85 (3rd), and have given up 65 runs (4th) Right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer is scheduled to get the start Sunday. Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets Betting Conclusion

The Phillies were able to score four runs Saturday, but that may not be the case on Sunday with Max Scherzer starting for the Mets. Scherzer has been locked in this season and I would expect the same here in game three. Backing the Mets –1.5 as I don’t think the Phillies will have much success with their bats.
