New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Predictions

The Yankees enter Saturday’s matchup with a four and a half game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. New York had themselves a day in game one of this series, with a final score of 15-7. This Yankees lineup has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers, with an average of 4.83 runs per game. Aside from allowing seven runs on Thursday, New York’s bullpen has been great and are holding teams to 2.75 runs per game. The left-hander Jordan Montgomery is scheduled to start Saturday. Montgomery is 0-1 in six games this season with an ERA of 2.90 and has given up 24 hits, 10 earned runs, and struck out 25 batters in 31.0 innings.

The Chicago White Sox are currently tied with the Cleveland Guardians for second place of the AL Central, two games behind the Twins for first place. The White Sox struggled against the Yankees in game one, but have won seven of their last nine games. The offense is starting to pick it up a bit with 21 runs scored over their last three games. The bullpen struggled through their first 15 games, but have held opponents to three runs or less in eight of their last 11 games. Left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel is expected to take the mound Saturday. Keuchel is 2-3 in five games this season with an ERA of 6.86 and has allowed 32 hits, 16 earned runs, and struck out 13 batters in 21.0 innings of work.

I like the Yankees to cover the –1.5 runline in this matchup. Dallas Keuchel has struggled in the majority of his starts this season and will be going against one of the top lineups in baseball. Montgomery has pitched well and should go six to seven innings in this one. Backing the Yankees –1.5.

New York Yankees Betting Analysis

Prior to the results of Friday night’s game, the Yankees are 23-8 SU, 17-14 ATS, and have an O/U record of 13-18. The total has gone over in six of their last eight games when playing on the road against the White Sox. The Yankees are 16-2 SU in their last 18 games and 8-1 SU in their last nine games against the White Sox. Following this trend, New York is 6-1 SU in their last seven road games and 9-4 SU on the road this season.

New York has had their bats working this season. As a team the Yankees have a batting average of .242 (8th), on base percentage of .322 (5th), slugging percentage of .418 (4th), and have scored 150 runs (5th). Designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton had two home runs in game one of this series and on the season has a batting average of .277 (31-112), nine home runs, and 28 RBIs. Right Fielder Aaron Judge also homered in game one and has a batting average of .296 (34-115), 11 home runs, and 26 RBIs.

The Yankees bullpen has shown consistency in their first 31 games. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .217 (5th), have an ERA of 2.75 (3rd), and have given up 90 runs (2nd). The left-hander Jordan Montgomery is scheduled to start Saturday. Montgomery is 0-1 in six games this season with an ERA of 2.90 and has given up 24 hits, 10 earned runs, and struck out 25 batters in 31.0 innings. In his one game against the White Sox last season, Montgomery allowed five hits, zero earned runs, and struck out 11 batters in 7.0 innings of work.

Chicago White Sox Betting Analysis

After 30 games played, the White Sox have gone 15-15 SU, 14-16 ATS, and have an O/U record of 12-16-2. The total has gone under in eight of Chicago’s last 12 games. Going against this trend, the total has gone over in six of their last seven games when playing at home against New York. The White Sox are 7-2 SU in their last nine games, but 1-8 SU in their last nine games against the Yankees.

Chicago’s seven runs scored in game one was their second highest scoring game of the season. As a team the White Sox have a batting average of .225 (22nd), on base percentage of .283 (28th), slugging percentage of .355 (22nd), and have scored 109 runs (27th). Shortstop Tim Anderson leads the team with a batting average of .333 (35-105), four home runs, and 12 RBIs. First baseman Jose Abreu is helping bring in the runs with a batting average of .207 (23-111), three home runs, and 12 RBIs.

The White Sox have plenty of quality arms in their bullpen, but continue to have problems, such as blowing a six-run lead in the ninth inning to the Guardians on Monday. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .230 (15th), have an ERA of 3.65 (12th), and have given up 130 runs (15th). Left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel is expected to take the mound Saturday. Keuchel is 2-3 in five games this season with an ERA of 6.86 and has allowed 32 hits, 16 earned runs, and struck out 13 batters in 21.0 innings of work. In his one outing against the Yankees last season, Keuchel gave up six hits, one earned run, and struck out four batters in 4.0 innings.

New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Conclusion

The Yankees have been almost too good to bet against at this point. The bats should have another big day against a struggling Dallas Keuchel. Backing the Yankees –1.5 here.
