Los Angeles Angels vs. Baltimore Orioles Betting Prediction

The Los Angeles Angels enter this matchup fourth in the AL West standings, 16 and a half games behind the Houston Astros for first place. The Angels most recently went 1-1 SU in a two-game series with the Miami Marlins and have lost six of their last 10. At one point this team was battling for lead of the division, but since losing 14 straight games the Angels have fallen apart. The offense averages just 4.04 runs per game (25th) with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout being the main contributors. The bullpen has been a bit better but have still struggled with a team ERA of 3.92 (15th) throughout the season. The right-hander Chase Silseth (1-2, 5.23 ERA) is expected to take the mound for the Angels Thursday.

Baltimore is currently last in the AL East standings, 20 and a half games behind the New York Yankees for first place. The Orioles swept the Texas Rangers in their most recent three-game series and are 5-5 SU over their last 10 games. Baltimore had their bats working against the Rangers with 19 runs scored throughout the series. This is much better than their season average of 4.13 runs per game (T-20th). Baltimore’s bullpen struggled against Texas, allowing the Rangers 17 runs throughout the series. This is about two runs above their season ERA of 4.07 (19th). Right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles (4-7, 4.70 ERA) is scheduled to start for Baltimore on Thursday.

The Orioles have gone 2-1 SU against the Angels this season. I do not have a dog in this fight as both teams have seen similar success this season and the starting pitchers are evenly matched. However, I expect this game to be high scoring as Lyles and Silseth have a combined ERA of 9.93. Backing the total to go over 8.5 runs (-115) in this matchup.

Score Prediction: Orioles 5, Angels 4
Best Bet: Over 8.5
