Atlanta Braves vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Analysis

The Braves and the Mariners will square off at T-Mobile Park for the first of a three-game set on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Atlanta is in the second place of the National League East standings at 86-51, while owning a 39-26 record away from Truist Park, trailing the Mets by half-a-game for first place in the division. The Mariners enter Friday night second in the American League West, 11 games behind the Astros for the division lead. At home they are 36-30, with an overall record of 77-60.

Atlanta Braves vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Prediction

Atlanta enters this matchup second in the NL East standings, a half-game behind the New York Mets for first place. The Braves have been one of the hottest teams in the league since returning from the All-Star break with a 30-13 SU record. They currently find themselves in first place of the NL Wild Card race, are on a seven-game winning streak, and have won seven of their last 10 games. The offense started the season a bit slow but have since become one of the best hitting teams with a batting average of .254 (8th), on base percentage of .319 (7th), slugging percentage of .446 (2nd) and have scored 683 total runs (2nd). Atlanta’s bullpen is also having a solid season with a WHIP of 1.19 (7th) and team ERA of 3.48 (6th). The right-hander Charlie Morton (7-5, 4.01 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Braves Friday.

Seattle is currently second in the AL West division, 11.0 games behind the Houston Astros for first place. Any chance of winning the division seems to be slowly slipping away, but the good news for the Mariners is that they are second in the AL Wild card race with a five-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles. Seattle went 1-2 SU in their most recent series with the White Sox and have won eight of their last 10 games. The offense has averaged 5.2 runs per game over that stretch, better than their season average of 4.18 runs per game. The Mariners bullpen has also been on fire over their last 10 with a team ERA of 2.2 and holding opponents to two runs or less five times. Southpaw pitcher Robbie Ray (12-8, 3.45 ERA) is expected to start on Friday.

With both teams on a roll as of late this should be a competitive series. I like the Mariners to win game with Robbie Ray taking the mound. Ray has not allowed a run in his last two starts and has given up just three runs over his last four starts. With how hot both offenses have been, the over could be a solid play here as well but I’ll stick with the Mariners moneyline here.

Score Prediction: Mariners 5, Braves 4
Best Bet: Mariners ML (-105)
