New York Yankees vs. Milwaukee Brewers Betting Analysis

New York and Milwaukee meet up for the first of a three-game series on Friday, September 16, 2022 at American Family Field.

The Yankees are the top team in the American League East with an 87-56 ledger. However, New York is 37-34 away from Yankee Stadium. The Brewers enter Friday’s matchup positioned second in the National League Central standings with records of 76-67 overall and 39-27 at home, which trails the division leading Cardinals by 7.5 games.

New York Yankees vs. Milwaukee Brewers Betting Prediction

The Yankees enter this matchup first in the AL East standings with a six and a half game lead over the second place Toronto Blue Jays. New York most recently swept the Red Sox in a short two game series and have won eight of their last 10 games. After facing several struggles since returning from the All-Star break the Yankees are back to playing like they did in the first half of the season. The offense has scored five runs or more in seven of their last 10 games and have been great on the season with a batting average of .239 (11th), on base percentage of .322 (5th), slugging percentage of .423 (6th) and have scored 678 total runs (5th). The bullpen has also been solid as of late and on the season with a WHIP of 1.11 (3rd) and team ERA of 3.28 (3rd). The right-hander Frankie Montas (5-12, 3.89 ERA) is scheduled to start for New York Friday.

Milwaukee is currently second in the NL Central standings, eight games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for first place. The Brewers are also in the Wild Card hunt as they currently sit two games behind the Padres for the third NL Wild Card berth. They most recently went 1-1 SU in a two-game series with the Cardinals and have won six of their last 10 games. With just 19 games remaining on their schedule every game is now important to the Brewers. The offense has played well for the most part of this season with a batting average of .235 (11th), on base percentage of .316 (14th), slugging percentage of .316 (14th) and have scored 645 total runs (10th). Milwaukee's bullpen has been inconsistent at times throughout the season with a WHIP of 1.23 (11th) and team ERA of 3.91 (16th). Right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser (6-9, 4.61 ERA) is expected to start for the Brewers Friday.

I like the Yankees to take game-one of this series. The offense seems to be back on track and I expect them to put up quite a few runs against Houser. I also like the total to go over as Montas has not pitched well since joining the Yankees and think he will give up at least few runs to the Brewers. Backing the Yankees moneyline and the over in this matchup.

Score Prediction: Yankees 5, Brewers 4
Best Bet: Yankees ML (-125)
Best Bet: Over 8 (-105)

New York Yankees vs. Milwaukee Brewers – Current Form

The Yankees have played excellent recently, highlighted by New York posting back-to-back series victories over the Rays and the Red Sox squads, resulting in a solid 4-1 record across that window. Game first with the Tampa Bay Rays was New York’s worst in the last five. They produced a total of two runs. Scoring 10 runs against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday’s second game in the series was their best performance in their last five games. The Brewers won 2-1 against the Reds last Sunday, and went 1-2 with the Cardinals in their next game on Wednesday. In the second contest against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers were in their best form in the last five games, keeping the Cincinnati Reds at only one run.
