NBA Best Bets | Expert Picks for Sunday, March 10

76ers vs Knicks

by Michael Crosson

After looking like one of the top teams in the East in the first half of the season with a record of 29-14 through 43 contests, the 76ers now find themselves in total free fall in the absence of All-Pro center Joel Embiid.

The Sixers own a miserable record of 6-14 in their last 20 games – and you simply can’t win if you can’t score, highlighted by Philadelphia ranking 21st in offensive rating and 25th in scoring during their latest stretch.

Things certainly won’t get any easier for the Sixers tonight either as they hit the road to face the Knicks, who rank 2nd in points allowed and 9th in defensive rating on the season.

Offensively, the Knicks have averaged 103 points per game in their last 10 contests, while falling short of 108 points in nine of those affairs, and falling short of 103 points in seven of them – and they’ve seen the total go under in 20 of their last 25 games dating back to January 13.

On the other side of that same coin, the Sixers have averaged 105 points per game during that same time period – while tallying less than 110 points in eight of their last 10 contests, and less than 105 in six of 10. Give me the under at MSG tonight.

Pick: Under 210.5 (-110)

Pacers vs Magic

by Bruce Marshall

Orlando Magic -1.5 (-110)

We'll give the Magic another chance after they laid an egg on Friday at MSG against the Knicks.

Prior, however, Orlando had been the hottest team in the East, winning and covering five straight, part of a 13-3 SU run that has moved Jamahl Mosley's crew a good distance from the cut-line to the play-in field.

It would help if Jalen Suggs (late scratch Friday due to thigh) were available, but the Magic have other weapons who can do more than they did on Friday night, like the usually-reliable Franz Wagner, held well below his average when scoring only 13 on subpar 6 for 20 shooting.

Meanwhile we continue to be a bit surprised by the wildly-erratic form of the Pacers, now minus livewire G Benendict Mathurin (shoulder).
