Seahawks vs Giants Picks, Betting Prediction & Odds for Monday Night Football Week 4

Matchup Spread Total Moneyline

According to VegasInsider’s Patrick Everson, the line for this contest originally opened at Seattle -1.5 at BetMGM, but jumped the fence to New York -1 by lunch time on Monday. The Giants have bounced between -1.5 and -1 for most of the week, with Seattle taking 75% of spread bets but New York receiving 54% of the spread money as of Friday.

All of last year, I shouted from the rooftops that the Giants were dreadfully overrated by the vast majority of football fans, but after getting outscored 98 to 43 through the first three weeks of this season, and scoring 31 of those points by playing catch-up in the second half against Arizona, I can finally give my voice a rest with Saquoun Barkley officially listed as doubtful, and now, the pendulum swinging back to Seahawks -1.5 at most shops.

After getting stomped by a score of 40-0 by the Cowboys in Week 1, and then heading to halftime of their Week 2 matchup trailing the Cardinals by a score of 20-0, the Giants briefly flipped the switch in the second half against Arizona, erupting for 31 points on 350 total yards in the final two quarters to complete a thrilling comeback win and miraculously get to 1-1. However, none of that momentum carried into Week 3, as the Giants scored just 12 points on 150 total yards in an ugly loss to San Francisco to drop to 1-2.

The Giants defense has been terrible to open the season, having surrendered 28+ points in all three contests. But against all odds, their offense has actually been worse. They’ve scored a grand total of 12 points and turned the ball over five times in their 10 quarters of play aside from their stunning second half performance against Arizona – ranking 31st in points scored and 30th in points allowed entering the week.

This isn’t strictly a fade of the Giants, though. A small section of the football community loves to write off Geno Smith, and following the Seahawks’ 30-13 home loss to the Rams in Week 1, all the Geno doubters briefly rose from the ashes. But once again, the haters have been put to rest, as the Seahawks enter this week following back-to-back wins over the Lions and Panthers, propelled by their offense racking up 37 points on 390+ total yards in both contests.

New York bettors will point out that Seattle’s defense is much weaker than the defensive units that the Giants faced in their first three matchups, which is true. But the Seahawks just hung 37 points on a pair of defenses that are both arguably better than New York’s. And this Giants team simply isn’t built to trade haymakers in a shootout. The Giants scored 24 points or less in seven of their nine regular season wins last year, and they have scored 24 points or less in 18 of their last 22 contests, overall. Score Prediction: Seahawks 30, Giants 23

Seattle Seahawks Betting Analysis

Not only are the Seahawks the better overall team in this Monday Night Football clash, but this is also a favorable matchup for Seattle when it comes to strengths vs. weaknesses. The Seahawks have no issue leaning on the aerial attack for the bulk of their production. They ranked 12th in passing yardage last year at 231 yards per game, and they are tracking for a similar number this season, currently ranked 13th at 228 passing yards per game.

On the flip side, the Giants defense has been pretty awful this season in general, currently ranked 30th in scoring at 32.7 points allowed per game. However they’ve particularly struggled against the pass, highlighted by the Giants ranking 26th in yards allowed per pass attempt, as opposed to 16th in yards allowed per rush attempt.

Geno Smith completed just 62% of his passes for 112 yards in a frustrating loss to the Rams to open the season, but in Weeks 2 and 3, he completed 55 of 77 pass attempts for 312 yards per game in wins over the Lions and Panthers. All that just to say, even if you like the Giants in this spot, Geno passing props might still be worth a look.

New York Giants Betting Analysis

Daniel Jones is becoming somewhat notorious for his struggles under the bright lights. Jones owns a career record of 1-12 SU and 5-8 ATS in primetime, which includes a record of 0-5 SU at home. Last year, Jones did a pretty good job of protecting the football, as he threw just five interceptions in 16 regular season starts. However, things have been much different out of the gate this year, considering he’s nearly matched his previous total with four interceptions through three games.

On the other side of that same coin, Giants bettors could argue that Jones is the most profitable QB when coming off a loss since 2020 at 18-6 ATS, and the Giants are 7-1 ATS when coming off a loss under head coach Brian Daboll. Although I acknowledge how pesky this New York team can be, the Seahawks simply strike me as the superior team in this matchup, and I expect them to outlast the Giants with relative ease on Monday night.
