Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams Predictions
Score Prediction - Rams 31 Bears 16
After declining to officially name a starting QB for quite some time, the Bears will begrudgingly head to Los Angeles for their Week 1 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Rams, as Andy Dalton will make his first career start for Chicago – against L. A.’s Matthew Stafford, who will also be making his debut under-center with a new squad.
Despite signing a veteran signal-caller in Dalton during the offseason, the Bears still traded up to select former Ohio State quarterback, Justin Fields, with the 11th pick in last April’s NFL draft – which inevitably, stirred up a little bit of QB controversy in the weeks leading up to the regular season. On the other hand, Los Angeles settled its QB situation in a far more exciting way this past offseason – as the Rams elected to swap out Pro-Bowl quarterback, Jared Goff, in exchange for another Pro-Bowl QB from the Lions (Stafford).
I’ll lay the points with the Rams here, as L. A.’s transition from Goff to Stafford under-center strikes me as an enormous upgrade for Sean McVay’s already dynamic offensive unit – while I also believe it’s just a matter of time before Dalton coughs up the starting quarterback job to Fields in Chicago.

Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams Betting Analysis
After going 4-5 record in relief of Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott last year (64.9 % CMP, 53.8 QBR), Dalton elected to sign a one-year, 10-million-dollar deal with the Bears this past offseason, and it appears Chicago will actually send him out there Week 1 to “see what they are working with” – as opposed to tossing its first-round rookie straight into the flames to kick things off.
Even if Dalton struggles for the Bears this Sunday, it will still be tough to fault the 33-year-old veteran entirely – considering he’s walking into a brand-new offensive scheme in Chicago, and attempting to take down an elite Rams’ defensive unit in Week 1 (19.3 PPG, 53 SKS).
On the other hand, after spending the first 12 years of his career in Detroit, Stafford will finally be given the spotlight in Los Angeles – as he somehow escaped the clutches of Dan Campbell’s wretched Lions squad this past offseason, and ended up landing with an offensive dynamo in McVay and the Rams.
At times, I believe the majority is a little too critical of Chicago, considering the Bears have defied odds to make the playoffs in two of the last three seasons and possess a rookie QB on the sidelines that gleams with potential.
