LOS ANGELES CHARGERS vs. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS BETTING PREDICTION

The Chiefs originally opened as slim 2.5-point favorites over Arizona ahead of last week’s season-opener, however, that number quickly rose to -6 in the days leading up to the contest, and rightfully so, as Kansas City’s offense exploded for 44 PTS on 488 total yards in Week 1, while also holding Kyler Murray and co. to just 21 PTS on 282 total yards defensively.

In Week 18 last season, the Chargers and Raiders squared off with a playoff spot on the line, and to the majority’s surprise, Las Vegas came out on top, as the Raiders escaped with a thrilling 35-32 victory despite getting outgained by nearly 100 YDS in the contest (440-346). Last week, however, the Chargers received an immediate opportunity to avenge their season-ending loss; and they took full advantage of it, as L. A. cruised to a 24-19 over the Raiders while racking up 355 YDS of total offense and forcing three turnovers against Derek Carr and co.

The Chiefs and Chargers split a pair of highly competitive matchups last season, as Los Angeles caught Kansas City sleeping and escaped with a 30-24 road victory in Week 3, but the Chiefs managed to bounce back with a 34-28 road victory of their own in Week 15. I’ll back Kansas City here, as the Chargers posted a relatively convincing win over the Raiders last week, however, I still don’t trust them on the road against AFC contenders after losing three of their last four games to miss the playoffs last year, and nearly dropping last week’s contest despite forcing three turnovers.

L. A.’s playoff hopes were ultimately stripped in heartbreaking fashion in Week 18, however, the Bolts’ surprising downfall began long before that, as the Chargers entered their do-or-die season finale riding a miserable 5-6 SU and 4-7 ATS skid, which included head-scratching losses to the Texans, Broncos, and Vikings.

The Chargers can stand toe-to-toe with the best in the league offensively, highlighted by Justin Herbert and co. ranking 5^th in scoring and 4^th in total yardage last season (27.9 PPG, 390 YPG). However, their defense was surprisingly underwhelming, as the Bolts finished the year ranked 29^th in scoring and 23^rd in total yardage (27 PPG, 360 YPG); but if L. A. can clean things up defensively, the sky is the limit for this young squad.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Chiefs earned the second seed in the AFC with a record of 12-5 last season, and nearly punched a ticket to their third straight Super Bowl, as Kansas City went to halftime of the conference championship game leading the Bengals 21-10; but they were outscored 14-3 in the second half, and eventually lost the contest in overtime (L, 27-24).

Kansas City’s offense was excellent last year per usual, as the Chiefs paced the entire league in total yardage and ranked 4^th in scoring (29.4 PPG, 408 YPG). However, they parted ways with All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill this offseason, so their offense is expected to take a significant step back; but they looked like the same ole’ Chiefs during last week’s impressive 44-point outbreak against Arizona.
