DALLAS COWBOYS vs. GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING PREDICTION

Green Bay is certainly an early frontrunner for this year’s biggest disappointment in the league, as the Packers followed up back-to-back 13-win campaigns with a head-scratching 3-6 skid to open the season, primarily stemming from an offense that ranks 27th in the league in scoring at 17.1 PPG, which is a problem this squad isn’t accustomed to with Aaron Rodgers under center.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, got put behind the 8-ball early in the season, as Dallas posted an ugly 19-3 home loss to the Bucs in Week 1, and QB Dak Prescott exited the contest with a thumb injury that would inevitably keep him out for 4-6 weeks.

However, backup QB Cooper Rush weathered the storm just fine for Dallas, as the Cowboys’ offense averaged 21.4 PPG across an impressive 4-1 run in Prescott’s absence. But to be fair, it didn’t really matter who was under center at that point, as the Cowboys’ defense held their opponents to 15.8 PPG during that stretch.

I’ll back Dallas to cover here, as the Cowboys have scored 36.5 PPG and allowed just 17.5 PPG in back-to-back victories since the return of Prescott, likely presenting a steep uphill battle for a Packers squad that’s scored 21 PTS or less in six-of-nine matchups so far this season (17.1 PPG).

Score Prediction: Cowboys 27, Packers 17
Best Bet: Cowboys -4.5 (-110)

DALLAS COWBOYS BETTING ANALYSIS

All hope appeared to be lost for the Cowboys after losing Prescott to a thumb injury in an ugly loss to the Bucs back in Week 1. However, Dallas bounced back in emphatic fashion, as the Cowboys posted wins six of their next seven games, while scoring 25.7 PPG and allowing just 16.3 PPG during that span.

Rush received tons of credit for kickstarting the Cowboys’ campaign, and rightfully so, as most backup QB’s go their entire career without eclipsing the heights Rush hit this season.

However, the Cowboys’ defense smothering opponents to 19 PTS or less in six of their eight contests is the actual driving force behind this engine (16.6 PPG). And now with Prescott back in the drivers’ seat for Dallas, the sky is the limit for Mike McCarthy’s squad.

GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Green Bay won the NFC North with a record of 13-4 last season, which narrowly edged Tampa Bay for the top seed in the conference. However, Rodgers’ second straight MVP campaign came to an abrupt halt in the Divisional Round, as the Packers went in cold following a first-round bye and fell to the Niners in a snowy slugfest at Lambeau Field.

The Packers traded away All-Pro wideout Davante Adams this past offseason, which has depleted their receiving core to the ranks of Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and rookie Romeo Doubs.

However, nobody thought Adams’ departure would derail the operation quite like this, as Green Bay immediately went from ranking Top 10 in the league in scoring last season (26.5 PPG), to ranking Bottom 10 in scoring through the first half of this season (17.8 PPG), and a dropoff of such magnitude is incredibly difficult to overcome.
