NEW YORK GIANTS vs. DALLAS COWBOYS BETTING PREDICTION

Aside from lackluster campaigns by the Packers, Rams and Bucs thus far, the Giants have arguably been the biggest surprise in the league this season, as Brian Daboll’s squad is currently tied with Dallas for second place in the NFC East with a record of 7-3, despite scoring an average of just 20.5 PPG in their first 10 contests of the year.

The Giants have now lost two of their last three games, however, their first sign of vulnerability came back in Week 3 against Dallas, as the Cowboys rumbled to a seven-point road win at MetLife Stadium on Monday Night Football, despite the absence of QB Dak Prescott.

Dallas has certainly experienced its fair share of blundersthis year, especially on the offensive side of the ball. However, this squad only goes as far as its defense carries them, highlighted by the Cowboys surrendering 19 PTS or less in six of their seven wins this season. So, it was beyond encouraging to see Dan Quinn’s defense get back on track with a dominant performance in the Cowboys’ statement win over Minnesota this past Sunday (W, 40-3).

The Cowboys’ offensive numbers are slightly inflated by a pair of 40-point outbursts in Weeks 8 and 11, highlighted by Kellen Moore’s offense tallying 25 PTS or less in seven-of-ten contests so far this season, despite currently ranking seventh in the league in scoring with an average of 25.1 PPG on the year.

So, I’ll lean with the under here, as the first meeting of the year between these teams resulted in a 23-16 victory for Dallas, and I expect to see a similar scoring output in Thursday’s rematch between a pair of defenses that are both allowing an average of less than 20.5 PPG on the season.

Score Prediction: Cowboys 24, Giants 16
Best Bet: Under 45.5 (-110)

NEW YORK GIANTS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Giants finished last in the NFC East with a record of 4-13 last season, which tied the Jets for the third-worst mark in the league. Health issues were partly to blame for their struggles, especially on the offensive side, as the G-Men posted a modest 4-7 record through the first 12 weeks of the season, but a season-ending neck injury to Jones derailed their campaign, and they went 0-6 the rest of the way.

However, New York has played an impressive brand of football through the first 11 weeks of this season, as the Giants currently own the third-best record in the NFC at 7-3, despite their offense scoring 21 PTS or less in six-of-ten contests thus far (20.5 PPG).

Which in turn, forces this squad to live and die by the play of its defense, but when a team holds its opponent to 20 PTS or less in over half of their contests, it doesn’t take much nuance to keep up on the offensive side of the ball.

DALLAS COWBOYS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Cowboys appeared to be in for a bumpy ride after losing Prescott to a thumb injury in an ugly home loss to the Bucs back in Week 1. However, Mike McCarthy’s squad has bounced back in emphatic fashion, as the Cowboys posted wins seven of their next nine games, while scoring 27.6 PPG and allowing just 16.4 PPG across their latest stretch.

Rush received tons of credit for kickstarting the Cowboys’ campaign, and rightfully so, as most backup QB’s go their entire career without eclipsing the heights Rush hit earlier this season.

However, their defense is the actual driving force behind this engine, highlighted by the Cowboys ranking Top 5 in the league in both points allowed and yards allowed per play through the first 11 weeks of the season (16.7 PPG, 4.8 YPP). And now with Prescott back in the drivers’ seat, the sky is the limit for this squad.
