Week 15 of the NFL season will wrap things up with a matchup bearing very little playoff implications between the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers. Coverage begins from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.

LOS ANGELES RAMS vs. GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING PREDICTION

This matchup was originally scheduled with the expectation that Monday's contest would turn out to be a late-season heavyweight clash between a pair of playoff teams jockeying for seeding position, or maybe even a sneak peak at the NFC Championship Game. However, that couldn’t be further from the case for these squads.

The Rams seem content waving the white flag at this point of their campaign, as the defending Super Bowl champs head down the homestretch without Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, nor Aaron Donald at their disposal. And sitting over three games out of the final Wild Card spot with just four weeks left to play, the chances of L. A. reaching the playoffs are incredibly slim.

Personally, I’m giving the Rams a pass this year. For now, I think you're safe chalking up their struggles to one very long Super Bowl hangover. But if they stink again next year, then I’ll start to worry about the future of Sean McVay’s team.

On the other hand, though, this Packers squad might actually be broken. But hey, at least Aaron Rodgers still owns Chicago, as Green Bay completed its fourth straight regular season series sweep of the Bears last week, bringing the Pack's record up to 5-8 on the year.

However, prior to their latest victory, the Packers had lost seven of their last eight games. And while obviously, Rodgers and co. have had their fair share of struggles throughout the year, Green Bay’s defense has been abysmal since Week 5, highlighted by the Packers surrendering 27+ points in seven of their last nine matchups, and a lofty average of 28.5 PPG across their last four.

Once the regular season begins to wind down, and most teams have accepted their fate, there’s always a few squads left playing pedal to the metal for pride or future endeavors. And now, with Baker Mayfield at the helm for the near future, the Rams check all the boxes necessary to play that role the next few weeks.

Green Bay’s offense has played well recently, though, as Rodgers and co. have now scored 28+ points in three of their last four contests. And while ultimately, they should win this game, it’s almost impossible to warrant laying a touchdown with this Packers squad that’s surrendered an average of 26 PPG on the defensive side of the ball since Week 5. So, I’ll take the over here.

Not even in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine myself stooping to such a level in my football fandom. But I think I’m actually rooting for Baker Mayfield moving forward, or at least, for the remainder of this season.

Mayfield wasn’t widely considered top shelf talent early in his collegiate career. But against all odds, this guy strung together one of the most inspirational Heisman runs in recent memory, and ended up getting selected by the Browns with the first overall pick in the 2018 draft. Which carries high expectations for obvious reasons.

Baker certainly hasn’t lived up to the promises of a prototypical top draft choice, but he’s still talented enough to play quarterback in this league, and we saw flashes of his incredible natural talent throughout the Rams’ gutsy 17-16 victory over Vegas last week.

It hasn’t quite translated on the scoreboard yet, but for the first time in a while, the Rams’ offense actually looked competent in their latest affair, despite having virtually no preparation time with Mayfield prior. So, it will be interesting to see how they fare on Monday after getting a full week of practice under their belt with the Bake Show.

GREEN BAY PACKERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Packers posted an impressive record of 13-4 last season, which narrowly edged the Bucs for the top seed in the conference. But unfortunately, Rodgers’ second straight MVP campaign came to an abrupt halt in the playoffs, as Green Bay went into the Divisional Round cold following a first-round bye and fell to San Francisco in a snowy slugfest at Lambeau Field.

The Packers traded away All-Pro wideout Davante Adams this past offseason, which has depleted their receiving core to the ranks of Allen Lazard, Christian Watson, and Randall Cobb. 

However, nobody thought the departure of their top wideout would derail the operation quite like this, as Green Bay’s offense immediately went from ranking Top 10 in the league in scoring last season, to ranking 21st in scoring heading down the homestretch of this season.

The Packers’ offense has come to life the last few weeks, though. But unfortunately, it’s already too late for them to climb back into the playoff race. And the majority of Green Bay’s struggles stem from issues on the defensive side of the script anyways, which hasn’t improved much recently.
