TENNESSEE TITANS vs. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS BETTING PREDICTION

Prior to Week 12, the Titans appeared to be barreling toward a third straight AFC South title, as Tennessee geared up for the homestretch boasting a solid record of 7-3, in a division with no other teams stationed above the .500 mark at the time.

However, the Jaguars have now won five of their last six contests, and the Titans have lost six straight. So now, all of a sudden, we’ve got a winner-take-all matchup for the AFC South crown set for Saturday night between Tennessee and Jacksoville.

The Jaguars appeared to be down for the count early in the season, as Jacksonville posted losses in six-of-eight matchups out of the gate with Doug Pederson at the helm, which was a bit concerning with five of those losses coming by relatively wide margins of 6+ points.

However, the Jaguars are having a phenomenal second half of the year, highlighted by Trevor Lawrence and co. racking up a lofty average of 26.5 PPG in their last eight games, which has primarily served as the catalyst during their latest 6-2 stretch.

Don’t overlook Jacksonville’s defense, though, because they’ve also been pulling their weight recently, considering the Jaguars have now held their opponent to 22 points or less in three of their last four games, and five of their last nine.

And with the way their offense is playing, this Jacksonville squad can hang with pretty much anybody in the AFC if their defense retains that status moving forward.

The Titans actually didn’t look all that bad with Josh Dobbs under center last week, especially considering Derrick Henry and several other starters elected to rest up during their previous affair.

However, regardless of the circumstances, the Titans’ offense has now scored 16 points or less in five of their last six games, and eight of their last ten. And that type of production certainly hasn’t been enough to compete with this Jacksonville squad as of late. So, I’ll back the Jags to cover here.

TENNESSEE TITANS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Titans boasted a comfortable division lead and appeared to be coasting towards a third straight AFC South title heading into Week 12. But their schedule has gradually gotten tougher down the stretch, and slowly, this squad’s offensive struggles have snowballed into a total collapse, with Tennessee now riding an ugly six-game skid consisting of losses to the Bengals, Eagles, Chargers, Jaguars, Texans, and Cowboys.

The Titans dominated the defensive side of the ball throughout the first half of the season, and typically, their offense played just well enough to push them over the edge on most occasions, demonstrated by Tennessee averaging less than 20 PPG in their first ten games, but they still went 7-3 out of the gate thanks to their defense allowing 21 points or less in eight of those contests.

The Titans’ defense can only do so much, though, and it’s been incredibly difficult for them to compensate for a lackluster offensive attack when they’ve also turned the ball over six times in their last three games.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Titans’ best shot at beating Jacksonville was back in Nashville a few weeks ago, as a much healthier Tennessee squad hosted the Jaguars in Week 14. And after falling behind 14-7 early in the first quarter, the Jags proceeded to carve up Tennessee’s defense for 428 total yards and run away with a 36-22 road victory.

Prior to that contest, the cat wasn’t entirely out of the bag regarding Tennessee yet, considering the Titans entered their previous matchup against Jacksonville with a modest record of 6-6, and there still appeared to be hope for Mike Vrabel’s squad.

The Titans have now lost six straight games, though, and they scored 16 points or less in five of those contests. So, at this point, it’s probably best for Tennessee to just wave the white flag and save any future embarrassment.

The Jaguars won the previous meeting between these teams by a distant 14-point margin, and truth be told, I think there's a good chance they win Saturday’s contest by an even wider gap.
