2020 World Series of Poker postponed

On Monday April 20, 2020, the 51st installment of the World Series of Poker was officially postponed.

The 2020 event was scheduled to begin on Tuesday May 26 from the from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and run through Tuesday July 14.

Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker, made the annoucement.

He said, "We are committed to running the World Series of Poker this year but need additional time to proceed on our traditional scale while prioritizing guest and staff well-being,” explained Stewart. "In the interim, official WSOP competitions are expected to be played online this summer, and we will soon announce details of an expanded series of tournaments to be played on WSOP.com and through partnership with international operators, which will allow players to chase WSOP glory from their homes."

Reports have said that organizers are hoping that the event will be held in fall of 2020, but no exact dates were provided.
