77th Emmy Awards: Records That Could Be Broken

Ahead of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, VegasInsider has collected a list of records that could be broken at the upcoming ceremony.

To highlight a few of the records that could be broken:

  1. Pedro Pascal (nominated for “The Last Of Us”) could become the first Latino actor to ever win in the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series category. Pascal is Chilean-American and to date, he has amassed 4 Emmy nominations but he has yet to win.
  1. Bowen Yang (nominated for “SNL”) could become the first actor of Asian descent to ever win in the Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series. This is the 4th time that Yang has been nominated in the Supporting Comedy Actor category in addition to 1 nomination for writing on “SNL”.
  1. Bella Ramsey (nominated for “The Last Of Us”) could break the record of Zendaya and become the youngest winner in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category. Zendaya was 24 when she won for “Euphoria” in 2020 and Ramsey is currently 21. This is Ramsey’s 2nd nomination in the category.
  1. Kathy Bates (nominated for “Matlock”) could break the record of Glenn Close and become the oldest winner in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category - Close was 62 when she won for “Damages” in 2009 and Bates is 77. While this would be Bates’ first victory in the Lead Drama Actress category, to date, she has been nominated for 15 Emmys and she won twice in the past - for “American Horror Story: Coven” and for her guest role on “Two and a Half Men”.
  1. Jean Smart (“Hacks”) could join an elite group of 4 actresses who have won 7 or more acting Emmys (Allison Janney, Cloris Leachman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mary Tyler Moore) - Smart has won 6 acting Emmys, including 2 for “Frasier”, 1 for “Samantho Who?” and 3 for “Hacks”, so a win in 2025 could be her 7th Emmy win and 4th one for “Hacks”.
  1. Kendrick Lamar could become the first performer to ever win 2 Primetime Emmys for a Super Bowl Halftime show performance in the Outstanding Variety Special category - he first won as a performer for co-headlining Super Bowl LVI and he could win his second Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Special.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on the 14th of September 2025 in Los Angeles, California.
