Alabama covered the spread in its last game, destroying Jacksonville State 81-57 and covering a three touchdown spread (-21).

Despite eclipsing the 80-point total, Alabama went UNDER the game's point total by nearly 20 points (152). However, limiting a low-tiered mid major school to 51 points is a big reason why the UNDER hit.

Stanford has yet to play this season, but was 6-7 SU on the road last season and an impressive 19-12 ATS. The Cardinal went 12-17-2 in the OVER-UNDER last season as well. Alabama was also 19-12 vs. the spread last season, but a measly 4-9 on the road SU.

Betting Analysis – Stanford Cardinal

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

2019-20 stats

  • SU: 20-11
  • ATS: 19-12
  • SU - Home: 14-4
  • SU - Away: 6-7
  • O/U: 12-17-2

Stanford saw solid home results in 2019-20, and typically played most of their road games in close fashion. If the Cardinal can mirror their 2019-20 play in regards to facing the spread on the road, then they should see success in a neutral court matchup. However, the spread is just +1 which is essentially picking a SU winner.

The line can move or or down as time progresses until opening tip, but with the low spread it seems safe to look into SU numbers over ATS ones. Stanford has the advantage (based on last year's team) in winning on the road, returning solid experience in both Oscar Da Silva and Daejon Davis.

Betting Analysis – Alabama Crimson Tide

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 1-0
  • ATS: 1-0
  • SU - Home: 1-0
  • SU - Away: 0-0
  • O/U: 0-1

Alabama is tough to judge this early on the road, mainly because of the notorious road woes last season. The Crimson Tide passed their first (easy) test of the season at home, but this becomes the first true challenge for Alabama.

Looking at the Alabama roster however, this is a game that the Crimson Tide should win despite last year's road struggles. Alabama saw four players score 12 or more points against Jacksonville State, two of them being seniors. Jaden Shackelford and Jahvon Quinerly each scored 18 points, while James Rojas had eight points and seven rebounds.

Stanford-Alabama Predictions

The rosters for these schools favors Alabama pretty easily, but the road uncertainty for the Crimson Tide looms in the back of bettor's minds. For a -1-point spread though, it seems safe to side with Alabama here. The Crimson Tide possess the talent, experience and lighter travel to Asheville.

Seeing Alabama score 81 points, it would seem likely the the point total will go OVER the given 148.5. The Alabama road struggles has already been discussed, so be weary on siding with another offensive output from Alabama. Also consider the Stanford defense in 2019-20 was very good.

Stanford ranked within the Top 20 nationally in points allowed last season, while also posting the country's 12th-best defensive rating. There's not much to go off Stanford just yet (playing their first game), so feel free to use the solid defense and returning Da Silva and Davis as measuring sticks.

  • Score Prediction: Alabama 71 Stanford 70
  • Best Bet: Under 148.5
