The Bluejays are road favorites, given a -1-point spread which actually opened at -3. Seton Hall has covered 10 of 15 games this season, while Creighton is just 6-9 on the ATS.

The point total is a high 148.5, as the teams are split on the O/U market. The teams are a combined 16-16 on the O/U this season, with Creighton leaning OVER and Seton Hall leaning UNDER.

Betting Analysis – Creighton Bluejays

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-4
  • ATS: 6-9
  • SU - Home: 8-2
  • SU - Away: 3-2
  • O/U: 8-7

Life is good when Marcus Zegarowski is back on the court. Life is also good when Denzel Mahoney is hitting his three-pointers. Both occurred in Creighton's bounce back win against UConn.

Wooden Award candidate Zegarowski saw 15 points, while Mahoney shot 42.9% from beyond the arc. The concern is that Creighton lost two straight games prior to the UConn game. Yes, UConn was just ranked, but have been without their star player.

Basically, the Creighton win is not as good as advertised but is still nice to see the best two Bluejays beginning to get back to form. With those two, Christian Bishop and Damien Jefferson all playing well this is a very difficult offense to slow down.

Creighton scores 80.6 points per game which ranks 37th nationally, while also holding the nation's 33rd-best offensive efficiency rating (112.2). They have the 47th-most assists per game (16.1), the 28th-best field goal percentage (49%), the 12th-best two-point percentage (59%) and the 74th-best three-point percentage (36.4%).

The defense isn't elite, but can hold its own. Creighton has the 44th-most blocks per game (4.4) and the 42nd-most defensive rebounds per game. How can anyone stop this team? Foul them.

Creighton makes just 11.4 free throws per game which ranks 165th, while only connecting on 65.8% from the charity stripe which ranks 288th nationally. Only two players shoot over 70% from the free throw line for Creighton, one being Zegarowski and the other being Shereef Mitchell.

Mitchell is questionable though, and not much of a contributor. The good news is that Seton Hall's defense isn't great, but the Pirates have the advantage in the paint. If Creighton is missing their shots, it will result in the Bluejays having to score down low and ultimately getting into a free throw battle.

Betting Analysis – Seton Hall Pirates

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 9-6
  • ATS: 10-5
  • SU - Home: 5-2
  • SU - Away: 4-4
  • O/U: 7-8

The reason Seton Hall is (more than likely) going to win the paint battle is because of Sandro Mamukelashvili. He is the leading scorer and rebounder for Seton Hall, but can also compete with Creighton's Bishop on the perimeter.

He and Jared Rhoden make up most of the offensive production for Seton Hall, so he will have to dominate down low while Rhoden fills in. Shavar Reynolds leads the team in assists per game, so if he can drive and kick to either player mentioned then Seton Hall might keep pace.

It will be difficult, but as mentioned above there is a formula Seton Hall can use to slow the game's pace and possibly win. Foul them.

The Creighton free throw woes have been discussed, as Seton Hall is a complete opposite. The Pirates attempt the 41st-most free throws per game (22.5), making 16.6 (25th-most) which equates to a 73.7 free throw percentage (82nd-best). They also see 4.2 blocks per game which ranks 63rd in the nation.

Getting Creighton to miss three-pointers, forcing them inside into a physical paint battle, should be Seton Hall's strategy here. Creighton put up over 80 on the Pirates last time out, and Seton Hall has a defensive rating of just 101.7 (239th-worst). Its a tall task for the Pirates to rely on a physical-inside defense to beat a team that averages 80 points per game.

Its better than the alternative though, which is trying to keep pace with Creighton's offense. As shown in the first game, Seton Hall isn't built to score 80 against elite teams and is better off playing physical and getting to the line.

Creighton-Seton Hall Predictions

Creighton should win this game, but it's hard to ignore Seton Hall at home with revenge on its mind. Add that with the Bluejays recent struggles and the 10-5 Seton Hall ATS, it's much more difficult to lean with Creighton than what it may appear to be on paper.

The -1-point spread allows for wiggle room to take the SU instead, as a live bet seems worth considering. If live betting, only consider the plus-spread for Creighton.

The point total seems to be much easier to consider, at 148.5 this requires both teams to touch just above 70 points. With Seton Hall's lack luster defense, but ability to keep this game close, expect the OVER here.

  • Score Prediction: Creighton 77 Seton Hall 74
