Odds Subject to Change
The Oklahoma Sooners enter as home favorites, given a -1.5-point spread. Both teams cover the spread well as Oklahoma is 9-5 on the ATS while Alabama has covered 11 of 16 games this season.
The point total is set at a high 153.5, which isn't surprising considering the offenses that will take the court. Alabama has gone OVER in nine of 16 games, while Oklahoma has gone UNDER in eight of 14 games.
Betting Analysis – Alabama Crimson Tide
Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)
- SU: 14-3
- ATS: 11-5-1
- SU - Home: 10-3
- SU - Away: 4-0
- O/U: 9-8
Alabama has been nothing short of impressive, undefeated in SEC play. The return of John Petty has given this team (specifically offense) a shot in the arm, not that it was needed.
The Alabama offense scores the 30th-most points per game nationally, and feature four players that average 12 points or more per game. Jaden Shackelford, Herb Jones and Jahvon Quinerly all played well while Petty was out. Now the four are running a Nate Oats' offense which should worry any opponent they cross.
Alabama attempts the fifth-most three-pointers per game (30.2) and makes the sixth-most three-pointers per game (10.9). For as much credit as the offense gets, Alabama also rebounds and gets steals. The Crimson Tide average 40.2 rebounds per game (ranks 31st) and averages 8.7 steals per game (ranks 24th).
Also, Alabama has a defensive efficiency rating of 93.1, which ranks 50th in the country. This is a very dangerous offense with a quick defense, that quietly leads to transition points for Alabama. If Oklahoma sees more than 10 turnovers in the game, it'll be tough for them to keep pace with Oats and the Crimson Tide offense.
Betting Analysis – Oklahoma Sooners
Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)
- SU: 10-4
- ATS: 9-5
- SU - Home: 8-1
- SU - Away: 2-3
- O/U: 6-8
What a pleasant surprise the Sooners have turned into this season, now ranked in the AP for the first time this season. Austin Reaves has been a monster so far, carrying the Sooners with his 15.8 points, 5.1 boards and 5.1 dimes per game.
Add Reaves' solid play with De'Vion Harmon and Brady Manek, you have an offense that averages 77.6 points per game which ranks 67th in the nation. Statistically speaking, Oklahoma can compete with Alabama's offense. The only difference is that the Sooners rely on just three players for most of their offensive production.
Basically, depth is the Sooner concern entering this home game on Saturday. Players like Umoja Gibson, Alondes Williams and Kur Kuath will have to see more points than their season averages (around 7.5 or higher).
Oklahoma's defense isn't terrible, but it's not elite. Expect the Sooners to try and keep pace in a high-scoring game, which may lean on the Oklahoma role players more than the three main contributors. Of all the Oklahoma role players, Kuath will need to be productive on the boards.
The Sooners can steal just as well as Alabama, while they pass the ball better than the Crimson Tide (15.1 assists per game ranks 82nd). The biggest strength for Oklahoma is making free throws, which may help them cover/win the game if it is close down the stretch. Oklahoma hits 75.1% of its free throws, which ranks 51st nationally.
