Auburn Tigers vs. LSU Tigers Predictions

Who doesn't enjoy a good ole fashioned conference rivalry? Neither of these teams are currently playing at the elite level they were once upon a time ago, but are building back to being in that conversation. Both the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers are coming into this game with 3-1 records.

LSU is coming off an impressive win against Mississippi State, while Auburn was able to fend off Georgia State in a game that ended up a bit closer then it should have. Ex-LSU quarterback T.J. Finley may get an opportunity to be under center for Auburn, which might be an upgrade to Bo Nix who was pulled last week. It will be interesting to see how long the leash is this week

3.5 is probably the perfect spread for this game. If it feels like no matter which side wins, it's going to be by a field goal. Both of these teams have a long history, and I expect them to be playing hard in a 'must-win' game for both teams.

The total is set between 55 and 56 on most sportsbooks which seems a tad bit high considering some of the injuries both of these teams are facing

Auburn Tigers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 3-1

  • O/U: 3-1

Auburn hasn't looked like a very fluid team this season. While a quick glance at their box scores results may be impressive, that's not an adjective I would use in any of their games. Losing to Penn State is reasonable and while that game may have stayed relatively close throughout, I never really expected Auburn to win it.

Auburn’s run defense hasn't been great this season but that's fine, LSU cant run the ball to save their life. Whether it is the lack of offensive line talent or an injured running back room, LSU is going to beat you through the air or lose.

Finley is the reason this team won last week, and I think there is a good chance we can see him again. Unless there is just something about playing LSU that makes Nix a better quarterback, his SEC career has been pretty close to a failure. Finley isn't going to light the world on fire but he rallied this team from behind last week and may be able to do it again.

Due to the lack of play calling diversity, along with their struggles on third down. I'm willing to roll with the points and back Auburn at +3.5 right here.

Coming off a conference road win, I expect LSU to be as fired up as ever. Their only loss this season came at the hands of a good UCLA squad and have since taken care of everyone they needed to. This team doesn't quite have an identity yet, but are still very live to beat almost any team on any given week.

These two teams have a rich history and we'll see that on the field. LSU is coming into this game with more potential to legitimately complete this season, while Auburn might be a step behind them in the rebuild process. LSU not having their no. 1 corner, and future first round draft pick Derek Stingley Jr., is definitely going to hurt their pass protections.

Auburn is the kind of team that can take advantage of that. While we saw Nix throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs in the past, that's not a performance hes replicated in to many other big games across his career. Max Johnson is the best quarterback in this game and I expect him to continue to improve this season.

Auburn Tigers vs. LSU Tigers Betting Conclusion

I'm excited to watch this game play out. There are some good player prop opportunities here, with Johnson OVER on his passing yards and Auburn running back Tank Bigsby OVER rushing yards on my list.

If you really want to get spicy, then betting Nix UNDER on either of his passing yards could be an interesting angle - assuming he can't light the spark that brought him one of his career best games in the past. I think Auburn covers the +3.5, but LSU narrowly pulls off the victory.
