LSU Tigers vs. Ole Miss Rebels Predictions

The status of Ole Miss starting quarterback Matt Corral is obviously a major concern heading into this SEC West battle in Oxford.

As long as Corral can go, the Rebels should be able to keep their offense rolling here back at home against an LSU team that has struggled on the road this season (1-2).

This is also a major letdown spot here for LSU, who outlasted Florida last week at home in the underdog role.

There's plenty of storylines in Baton Rouge of late and many of them don't surround LSU's upset of Florida as double-digit home underdog last week.

Less than two seasons removed from winning a National Championship, head coach Ed Oregeron is on his way out at the end of this season, as the Tigers are 9-8 in the last 17 games since beating Clemson to capture the title in 2019.

LSU was tripped up in the season opener at UCLA, but the Tigers bounced back with three consecutive victories against McNeese State, Central Michigan, and Mississippi State.

The Tigers dropped two in a row against Auburn and Kentucky before shocking Florida last Saturday, 49-42 as 12.5-point home 'dogs. Junior running back Tyrion Davis-Price tore up the Gators on the ground for 287 yards and three touchdowns, marking the second straight season that LSU defeated Florida as double-digit 'dogs.

Ole Miss has been a scoring machine this season by putting up 40 points or more four times, while coming off a pair of close victories over Arkansas and Tennessee the last two weeks.

After the Rebels were run by then top-ranked Alabama on October 2 in Tuscaloosa, 42-21, Lane Kiffin's squad held off Arkansas in a shootout, 52-51 as five-point favorites. Mississippi compiled 611 yards, but 324 of those yards came on the ground.

Kiffin made his return to Knoxville last week to face the team he coached for one season in 2009 and the Rebels came through with a 31-26 triumph over Tennessee as 1.5-point favorites. The game easily stayed Under the total of 82.5, as the second half saw a total of 21 points combined.

Heisman Trophy favorite Matt Corral isn't at 100% as he is dealing with a knee injury sustained in the win at Tennessee. Corral rushed for 195 yards on 30 carries last week, while throwing for only 231 yards and two touchdowns.

The Ole Miss Rebels have gone OVER the point total in seven of their last 10 home games. (AP)

LSU Tigers vs. Ole Miss Rebels Betting Conclusion

This series has been one-sided the last five seasons with LSU capturing the previous five matchups since 2016. In fact, four of those victories came by double-figures before Ole Miss fell short last season in a 53-48 setback in Baton Rouge.

The Rebels led, 48-40 with 5:31 remaining before the Tigers scored a pair of touchdowns for the win, as Corral was intercepted five times in the defeat.

This is definitely a break-through moment for the Mississippi program to get over the LSU hump and although Corral is banged-up, catching the Tigers off the Gators' upset is a good spot to fade LSU this week.
