The highly anticipated second installment of The Devil Wears Prada is set for a worldwide release on May 1st - nearly twenty years after the original film debuted. The first movie was a major success, packed with iconic lines and unforgettable moments that remain culturally relevant to this day. With that in mind, VegasInsider has released odds on which memorable references, quotes, and scenes are most likely to return in the sequel.

1. “VOGUE” BY MADONNA PLAYING

“Vogue” by Madonna was already a global hit before featuring in The Devil Wears Prada, but its inclusion in the film cemented its legacy even further, appearing in the montage of Andy’s style makeover. Notably, the song can already be heard in the trailer for the sequel, strongly suggesting it will feature in the film itself. With that early tease, its return feels almost inevitable.

2. MIRANDA SAYING “THAT’S ALL” THREE OR MORE TIMES

Among Miranda Priestly’s many cutting one-liners, “That’s all” stands out as one of her most iconic. Its simplicity and delivery made it unforgettable. It has been already mentioned multiple times during the ongoing press tour and it can be heard once in the final trailer of the movie, but knowing Miranda Priestly, it will be said multiple times. The real question is not if - but how soon after the movie stars - we will hear it.

Fans of the original film will surely remember the infamous ringtone that seemed to haunt Andy throughout the first movie, as well as the unforgettable scene when she tossed her phone into the fountain in Paris, leaving Miranda behind. Given that, it seems likely that a phone could once again take a plunge in The Devil Wears Prada 2 - though this time around, it is safe to assume it would be a smartphone.

Interestingly, Miranda didn’t wear as much Prada in the first film as many might assume, which was allegedly a deliberate choice by the costume designer. However, she did carry a Prada handbag in her very first appearance. This time around, it would be surprising if Prada didn’t feature at least once in her wardrobe again.

5. SOMETHING CERULEAN APPEARING

The “cerulean sweater” monologue became one of the most referenced fashion speeches in modern film history. Additionally, Meryl Streep wore the original cerulean sweater on her recent appearance on The Late Show. Not including a cerulean reference in the sequel would feel like a missed opportunity, even if it should appear in a subtle way. 

6. “SUDDENLY I SEE” BY KT TUNSTALL PLAYING

• Implied Probability: 25%

Alongside “Vogue,” “Suddenly I See” is closely tied to the identity of the original film, having featured in its opening sequence. The song’s upbeat tone helped define the movie’s energy, and bringing it back would serve as a fitting nod to the original.

7. MIRANDA SAYING “GROUNDBREAKING”

• Implied Probability: 20%

Delivered with Miranda’s unmistakable sarcasm, “Groundbreaking” became another standout quote in The Devil Wears Prada universe. Its tone perfectly captures Miranda’s character, making it an easy line to reintroduce - if the right moment presents itself.

8. EMILY SAYING “I LOVE MY JOB, I LOVE MY JOB, I LOVE MY JOB.”

Emily may no longer be at Runway and from what we know from the trailer, she is now in a senior role at a fashion house, but high-pressure environments seem to follow her. That makes a reprise of her frantic mantra both believable and fitting for the sequel.

9. MIRANDA WEARING 50+ DIFFERENT OUTFITS

• Implied Probability: 13%

According to reports, Miranda wore more than 50 outfits in the first film, showcasing an impressive range of fashion. However, with growing conversations around sustainability, the sequel may take a more restrained approach - though surpassing that number is still within the realm of possibility.

10. MIRANDA PURSING HER LIPS

• Odds: +900
• Implied Probability: 10%

Few reactions in fashion are more dreaded than Miranda pursing her lips. This subtle yet powerful gesture spoke volumes in the first film, and with new runway moments expected - particularly during scenes set in Milan - the gesture could make a return in The Devil Wears Prada sequel, even if briefly.
