Ahead of the upcoming 2026 Golden Globes, VegasInsider has conducted an analysis of all the dresses worn by the movie stars during the night they won a Golden Globe to find out what brands/designers and colors bring the most luck to the nominated actors, statistically speaking.

To be more specific, we have collected data about all the dresses worn by the actresses who won a Golden Globe in one of the three film categories in the 21st century and subsequently we analyzed the data to find out which designers and colors turned out to be “the luckiest”.

ANALYSIS RESULTS

According to the results of the analysis spanning 20+ years and all the Golden Globe-winning actresses of the 21st century and their outfits 95.77% of actresses wore a dress during their Golden Globe victory night (68 in total), while 4.23% of actresses (3 in total) wore a different outfit - pantsuit, blazer or even PJs, famously worn by Jodie Foster during the covid-19 online ceremony in 2021.

COLORS ANALYSIS

Black turned out to be the “luckiest” color of an outfit worn by the actresses during their Golden Globes victory night - 33 outfits were black (35.5%).

White was the second most popular outfit color worn by the Golden Globe-winning actresses (14 outfits, 15.1%), followed by a tie between silver and blue in third place (10 outfits, 10.8%) and red in 5th place (6 outfits, 6.5%).

69% of actresses wore a dress with one color only (49 in total) during their victory night, while 31% of actresses wore a dress that had multiple colors (22 in total).

BRANDS / DESIGNERS ANALYSIS

Armani turned out to be the “luckiest” designer since it was the #1 most popular brand worn by the actresses during their Golden Globes victory night - 8 actresses wore Armani when they won their Golden Globe; namely, Armani was worn by: Julia Roberts (2001, won for Erin Brockovich), Meryl Streep (2003, won for Adaptation.), Cate Blanchett (2014, won for Blue Jasmine), Isabelle Huppert (2017, won for Elle), Glenn Close (2019, won for The Wife), Renée Zellweger (2020, won for Judy), Michelle Yeoh (2023, won for Everything Everywhere All At Once) & Demi Moore (2025, won for The Substance).

Dior & Yves Saint Laurent are tied as the second “luckiest” brands - they were worn by 5 actresses each when they won their Golden Globe, followed by a two-way tie between Versace and Valentino - each of the brands was worn by 4 actresses during their Golden Globes victory.

Chanel & Calvin Klein were worn by 3 Golden Globe-winning actresses each while Vera Wang & Carolina Herrera were each worn twice.

Last but not least, only 23.2% of actresses wore neck jewelry (16 in total) during their Golden Globes victory.
