KNICKS GO WINS BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC

Knicks Go set an uncontested lead and captured the $6 Million Breeders’ Cup Classic by 2 3/4 lengths on Saturday Nov. 6 at Del Mar Racetrack.

Jockey Joel Rosario rode the winning horse and helped trainer Brad Cox lock up his first BC Classic victory.

JAPAN HORSES EARN RESPECT

The Breeders' Cup hasn't been kind to horses from Japan but that changed in 2021.

Marche Lorraine edged Dunbar Road by a nose after a photo finish in the Distaff, cashing tickets at a 45/1 price.

Prior to that, Loves Only You captured the Filly and Mare Turf.

Both horses are trained by Yoshito Yahagi and the wins snapped an 0-for-13 skid in the Breeders' Cup.

DAY 1
(FRIDAY, NOV. 5)

(Win-Place-Show)

  • Juvenile Turf Sprint - Twilight Gleaming ($12.40, $5.80, $4.60)
  • Juvenile Fillies - Echo Zulu ($3.60, $2.60, $2.10)
  • Juvenile Fillies Turf - Pizza Bianca ($21.80, $10.40, $6.60)
  • Juvenile - Corniche ($4.80, $4.00, $3.40)
  • Juvenile Turf - Tiz the Bomb ($17.60, $7.40, $5.20)

CORNICHE WINS BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE

Corniche, the the 7-5 favorite, captured the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and will likely be the early favorite to win the 2022 Kentucky Derby.

The 2-year-old colt won the $2 million race by 1 3/4 lengths at Del Mar on Friday Nov. 5.

Bob Baffert is the trainer of Corniche and he's currently banned from racing at Churchill Downs for two years so the future of this relationship remains uncertain.

CHEF BOBBY FLAY COOKS UP A BC WINNER

Pizza Bianca, owned and bred by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, captured the $1 Million Juvenile Fillies Turf as a 9/2 betting choice.

The win was extra special for trainer Christophe Clement, who snapped an 0-for-41 slump in the Breeders’ Cup

Pizza Bianca won the race by coming from last to first as jockey Jose Ortiz needled his way through a ton of traffic.
