Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Predictions

Chicago started their season on the road against Detroit in a three-game series. The Sox lost on opening day 5-4, but managed to win the next two games 5-2 and 10-1. The bats were hot in their most recent game on Sunday, with 12 total hits, 10 RBI’s, and an impressive 5-13 with runners in scoring position. The pitching was also excellent for Chicago as they allowed just two hits and one earned run. The right-hander Vince Velasquez is scheduled to take the mound for the Sox on Tuesday. Velasquez was 3-9 last season with an ERA of 6.30 and had 101 strikeouts in 94.1 innings pitched.

The Mariners began the season on the road with a four-game series against Minnesota. Seattle took the first two games, lost the third, with the fourth game results coming in late Monday night. The Mariners bats are still looking to get hot as they have scored just 10 runs through the first three games. Right-hander Matt Brash is expected to get the start on Tuesday. Brash was drafted in 2019 and has yet to see any MLB action. In the minors last season, Brash was 6-4 with an ERA of 2.31 and had 142 strikeouts in 97.1 innings of work.

I like the White Sox to cover the run line in this matchup. Chicago will have a little more rest with their last game being on Sunday compared to the Mariners who played Monday night and then hopped on a plane to Chicago. This will also be the White Sox first home game of the year so expect Guaranteed Rate Field to have an electric atmosphere. The total is a bit high for me to play at 10. I would lean towards the under, but Chicago could cover by themselves if they get hot. For that reason, I will be sticking with the White Sox at –1.5 runs.

Seattle Mariners Betting Analysis

  • SU: 2-1
  • RL: 2-1
  • O/U: 1-2

Prior to their Monday night matchup with the Twins the Mariners have gone 2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS, and have an O/U record of 1-2. Going back to last season, Seattle is 9-2 SU in their last 11 road games. The Mariners had six games last season where the total was set at 10 or more and had an O/U record of 1-5 during those games.

Seattle will need to get a bit more offensive production against the White Sox. After their first three games, the Mariners have a batting average of .212 (T-19th), on base percentage of .322 (13th), and have scored 10 total runs (T-22nd). Right-fielder Mitch Haniger has started strong with a batting average of .250 (3-12), 5 RBIs, and 2 home runs. The third baseman Ty France has also started strong with a batting average of .364 (4-11), 0 home runs, and 2 RBIs. The Mariners will need to put their bats to work going against this very talented White Sox team.

The Mariners have relied heavily on their bullpen with the lack of offensive production they are seeing. After their first three games against Minnesota, Seattle has allowed their opponents a batting average of .189 (6th), struck out 29 batters (12th), and had an ERA of 3.46 (14th). Right-hander Matt Brash is expected to get the start on Tuesday. Brash was drafted in 2019 and has yet to see any MLB action. In the minors last season, Brash was 6-4 with an ERA of 2.31 and had 142 strikeouts in 97.1 innings of work.

Chicago White Sox Betting Analysis

  • SU: 2-1
  • RL: 2-1
  • O/U: 2-1

After completing their first series of the season with Detroit the White Sox are 2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS, and have an O/U record of 2-1. In five games against the Mariners last season the White Sox were 3-2 SU, 3-2 ATS, and had an O/U record of 4-1. The total for Tuesday’s matchup is set for 10, a total that the White Sox went 7-1 against last season.

Chicago has been swinging the bat well to start the season. As a team the White Sox have a batting average of .275 (6th), on base percentage of .310 (15th), and have scored 19 total runs (T-5th). Designated hitter Andrew Vaughn has been great with a batting average of .400 (4-10), 6 RBIs, and two home runs. Center fielder Luis Robert has also been on fire to start the season with a batting average of .385 (5-13), 1 RBI, and 0 home runs. With 30 total hits on the season, this White Sox team has potential to score a lot of runs every night.

The White Sox pitching also looked impressive in their first series of the season. They have allowed opponents a batting average of .185 (5th), struck out 31 batters (8th), and had an ERA of 2.70 (6th). Right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez is scheduled to take the mound for the Sox on Tuesday. Velasquez was 3-9 last season with an ERA of 6.30 and had 101 strikeouts in 94.1 innings pitched.

Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Conclusion

Both teams looked solid in their opening series. The White Sox get the edge due to their offensive production thus far and with it being their first home game of the season. Vince Velasquez struggled a bit last year, but this will be the perfect game for him to start the year, as the Mariners have not been swinging the bats too well. Laying the 1.5 runs with Chicago in this one.
