Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Predictions

The Atlanta Braves are coming off a four-game road series with the Padres. The Braves split the series, winning games two and three. Atlanta struggled offensively in the final game of the series with just four hits and one run scored. The pitching was solid, giving up just three hits and two total runs, but with no help from the bats it's tough to win ball games. Left-handed pitcher Max Fried is expected to take the mound on Tuesday. Fried is 0-2 this season and has given up 15 hits, seven runs, and struck out nine batters in 11.0 innings of work.

The Dodgers are coming off a four-game sweep against the Reds and have won six straight prior to Monday night’s game. LA has been hitting the ball well and the pitching has been lights out with four being the most runs they’ve allowed in one game. In their final game against the Reds, the Dodgers had 10 hits and nine runs while allowing Cincinnati just four hits and one run throughout the game. The right-hander Walker Buehler is scheduled to start Tuesday. Buehler is 1-0 this season and has allowed nine hits, four runs, and struck out nine batters in 10.2 innings pitched.

It’s very difficult to find any reason not to back the Dodgers with the way they have been playing. The offense has been great and the pitching has been even better. Meanwhile, the Braves have had a rocky start after winning the World Series last year. I like the Dodgers at –1.5 here as I think the Braves bullpen will struggle against this dominant Dodgers lineup.

Atlanta Braves Betting Analysis

Prior to Monday’s night game with LA, the Braves are 5-6 SU, 4-7 ATS, and have an O/U record of 5-5-1. The total has gone under in four of the Braves last five games which have all been on the road. Atlanta last met LA in the World Series and won the series 4-2. On the road is a different story as the Braves are 1-7 SU in their last eight games when playing on the road against LA.

The Braves have been hitting the ball fairly well to begin the season. As a team Atlanta has a batting average of .229 (17th), on base percentage of .316 (15th), slugging percentage of .398 (11th), and have scored 46 total runs (7th). The first baseman Matt Olson has had an excellent start to the season with a batting average of .421 (16-38), two HRs, and two RBIs. Left fielder Marcell Ozuna has also had a productive start with a batting average of .318 (14-44), four HRs, and eight RBIs.

Atlanta’s pitching has been a bit inconsistent, but have been better as of late, giving up just six runs over their last three games. As a team they are allowing opposing teams a batting average of .233 (16th), have an ERA of 4.64 (23rd), and have allowed 55 total runs (27th). The Braves used two pitchers in their last game with the Padres. Starter Bryce Elder gave up three hits and one run while Spencer Strider allowed zero hits and no runs. The Left-hander Max Fried is expected to start on Tuesday. Fried is 0-2 this season and has given up 15 hits, seven runs, and struck out nine batters in 11.0 innings of work.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Analysis

Through nine games the Dodgers are 7-2 SU, 7-2 ATS, and have an O/U record of 3-5-1. The Dodgers have won six straight games including four in a row at home. Following this trend, the Dodgers are 7-1 SU in their last eight games when playing at home against Atlanta. The total has gone over in four of the Dodgers last five games against Atlanta. Going against this trend, the total has gone under in the Dodgers last five games played on a Monday.

The Dodgers have had a hot start to the season and the offense ranks as one of the best in the league. As a team LA has a batting average of .270 (4th), on base percentage of .350 (3rd), slugging percentage of .407 (9th), and have scored 51 total runs (T-2nd). Left fielder Chris Taylor has been hitting the ball well with a batting average of .333 (10-30) and six RBIs. New addition Freddie Freeman has been settling in nicely with a batting average of .324 (12-37) and four RBIs.

LA’s pitching has been outstanding thus far. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .175 (1st), have an ERA of 2.28 (2nd), and have allowed 24 total runs (2nd). In their final game against the Reds, the Dodgers used three different pitchers. Starter Andrew Heaney lasted 6.0 innings and allowed a hit and no runs. The other two pitchers gave up a combined three hits and one run. Right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler is scheduled to take the mound on Tuesday. Buehler is 1-0 this season and has allowed nine hits, four runs, and struck out nine batters in 10.2 innings pitched.

Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Conclusion

This will be the toughest team the Dodgers have faced all season after most recently playing against the Reds and Twins. With that being said, I still think the Dodgers will have plenty of success against the Braves. The pitching has been too good and the bats have been great as well. I ike the Dodgers at –1.5 here as I think LA will give the Braves bullpen some trouble.
