New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Predictions

The New York Yankees enter this matchup first in the AL East with a four and a half game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees have won four of their last five games after defeating the Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon. The offense has had solid production for the Yankees, averaging 4.5 runs per game. The bullpen is also playing well this season, holding opponents to 2.7 runs per game. Right-handed pitcher Luis Gil is scheduled to get the start Thursday. Gil has not yet pitched this season, but went 1-1 in six games last season with an ERA of 3.07.

The White Sox are currently second in the AL Central standings, two and half games behind the Minnesota Twins for first place. After starting the season 3-10, the White Sox have managed to turn things around and have won seven of their last eight games. The bullpen has been great over that stretch, holding opponents to three runs or less seven times. The right-hander Dylan Cease is expected to take the mound Thursday. Cease is 3-1 in six games this season with an ERA of 2.38 and has allowed 21 hits, nine earned runs, and struck out 47 batters in 34.0 innings of work.

The Yankees are the underdogs in this one due to this being Luis Gil’s first start of the season. With that being said, I like the value in the Yankees moneyline here. If Gil does struggle the rest of their bullpen has been great this season. The White Sox are playing good ball, but the Yankees lineup will be too much for them to handle. Backing the Yankees as underdogs here.

Second baseman DJ LeMahieu is also hitting the ball well with a batting average of .290 (29-100), two home runs, and nine RBIs.

The Yankees bullpen has shown a lot of consistency in their first 30 games. Right-handed pitcher Luis Gil is scheduled to get the start Thursday. Gil has not yet pitched this season, but went 1-1 in six games last season with an ERA of 3.07. This will also be the first time in Gil’s career pitching against the White Sox.

Chicago White Sox Betting Analysis

After a poor start to the season, the White Sox have managed to turn things around and are 15-14 SU, 14-15 ATS, and have an O/U record of 11-16-2. The total has gone under in four of Chicago’s last six home games. Following this trend, the total has gone under in four of their last six games against the Yankees. The White Sox are 7-1 SU in their last eight games and 8-7 SU at home this season.

The White Sox have scored more than five runs just one time this season. As a team Chicago has a batting average of .225 (22nd), on base percentage of .282 (29th), slugging percentage of .354 (22nd), and have scored 102 runs (27th). The shortstop Tim Anderson has been the team’s best hitter with a batting average of .347 (35-101), four home runs, and 12 RBIs. Designated hitter Andrew Vaughn has been productive with a batting average of .283 (15-53), four home runs, and 12 RBIs.

As a team the White Sox are allowing opponents a batting average of .225 (11th), have an ERA of 3.25 (6th), and have given up 115 runs (7th). New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Conclusion

Both teams have been playing good baseball as of late. Luis Gil will get his first start for the Yankees this season, but with how well their bullpen has pitched this season, it shouldn’t' be too much of a concern for bettors. The White Sox have turned things around after a 3-10 start, but I think the Yankees lineup will be too much for Chicago’s bullpen. Backing the Yankees Moneyline in this matchup.
