Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Prediction

Prior to the results of game-one of this series, the Chicago Cubs are third in the NL Central standings, 12.0 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for first place. The Cubs most recently went 2-1 SU in a three-game series against the Brewers and have won seven of their last 10 games. Chicago’s offense has been great over that stretch, averaging 5.5 runs per game. This is well above their season average of 4.37 runs per game (15th). The bullpen has also played well over their last 10 with a team ERA of 3.9. This is much better than their season ERA of 4.66 (25th). The right-hander Keegan Thompson (7-3, 3.41 ERA) is scheduled to start for Chicago Friday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers enter this matchup atop the NL West standings with a six-game lead over the second place San Diego Padres. The Dodgers are coming off a three-game sweep against the Colorado Rockies and have won seven of their last 10 games. Los Angeles has been great on both sides of the ball throughout the season. The offense ranks second in runs per game (5), first in on base percentage (.330), and fourth in slugging percentage (.430). The Dodgers bullpen ranks second in team ERA (2.91), second in WHIP (1.09), and third in batting average allowed (.218). Left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson (9-1, 3.09 ERA) is expected to take the mound for the Dodgers Friday.

The Cubs have been playing solid baseball over their last 10 games and while I am not confident they win this game, I do think they keep it within two runs. No value in playing the Dodgers moneyline at (-232) so will be playing the Cubs runline as they should be able to keep things close with Thompson on the mound.
