Warriors vs Nets

by Michael Crosson

Despite sitting in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 20-28, the Nets finally appear to be gaining a little bit of momentum as they enter tonight’s contest following wins in three of their last four – which includes victories over the Rockets, Jazz and Sixers; as well as a 16-point home loss to the Suns.

For a variety of reasons, however, I’m still not buying into Brooklyn’s recent success. The Nets have been ridiculously hot across their latest four-game stretch – and quite frankly, the numbers are unsustainable for a team of this caliber  – considering Brooklyn leads the entire league in three-point attempts per game since January 26, and ranks 2nd in three-point percentage during that span.

Prior to their latest 3-1 run though, the Nets posted a miserable record of 2-12 from December 26 to January 25 – while also jacking up the most three-point attempts in the entire league during that span, but instead ranking 30th in three-point percentage during that timeframe.

Everything that goes up must come down, and while that may be the case for Brooklyn, the opposite seems to be true for this struggling Golden State squad. The Warriors are 3-4 since the return of Draymond Green, with three of those losses coming in overtime or by a margin of one point or less.

The Nets are going to turn this game into a three-point shootout, just like they always do. So I’ll roll the dice on Steph Curry and the Warriors to show up and do what they do best at the Barclays Center on Monday night.

Pick: Warriors ML (+120)

Mavericks vs 76ers

by Scott Rickenbach

Mavericks @ 76ers Over 242.5 Total Points (-110)

This total is in the 242.5 range as of 11 hours before tipoff. Philly is without Embiid now and that really opens things up in the paint. They tend to play more of a small ball fast paced style when Embiid is not available. That means plenty of scoring both ways.

As for the Mavericks, Irving is probable tonight and Doncic is questionable. I expect both to play in this game but either way I do like the over plenty in this one. Note that the Mavericks have allowed an average of 125 ppg last 12 games so don't let the big total scare you away here! The 76ers have allowed 125 ppg last 7 games.

The line on this is around a pick'em. In other words 126-125 type game here is not only possible it is probable given numbers like this. Look for both teams to get into the 125 to 130 range here in a typical wide-open non-conference affair played with plenty of pace and continued struggles defensively from both clubs. OVER the total in Philadelphia
