NBA Best Bets | Expert Picks for Thursday, Feb. 15

Warriors vs Jazz

by Michael Crosson

Last night, Golden State hosted the Clippers in the first half of a back-to-back set and it ended disastrously as the Warriors went to the fourth quarter leading LAC by a score of 97-86, and then choked away their double-digit lead in the final stanza to lose by a final score of 130-125 in a painful home loss.

Fortunately for GSW though, there will be no time to dwell on the past. The Warriors are back in action tonight, and this time they’ll hit the road for Utah to face the Jazz in their final matchup prior to the All-Star Break – and I believe we’re destined to see Golden State bounce back quickly from yesterday’s loss.

Even after last night’s contest, the Warriors are still 7-2 in their last nine games, while ranking 8th in offensive rating and 4th in defensive rating since January 29.

Utah, on the other hand, is in desperate need of a reset during the All-Star Break. The Jazz are 2-6 in their last eight games, while ranking 16th in offensive rating and 30th in defensive rating since January 28.

The Warriors shouldn’t have too much trouble handling business in this spot, despite playing on the road with a rest disadvantage.

Pick: Warriors -2.5 (-110)

Bucks vs Grizzlies

by Alex Smart

Memphis Grizzlies +11.5 (-110)

The Bucks have not played at a top level of late as their big star Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing at less than 100% with nagging injuries as is Damian Lillard. The Bucks also remain without the services of Khris Middleton, who is sidelined.

Milwaukee is just 3-6 SU/ATS L/10 and have in the recent past had a tendency to not play hard against lower tier sides like the Memphis Grizzlies as is evident by a 5-17 ATS record when playing against a team with a losing record this season.

Meanwhile, MEMPHIS is 19-8 ATS in home games when playing against a team with a winning record - 2nd half of the season over the last 3 seasons and are 30-15 ATS in home games versus good passing teams, averaging 23 or more assists/game - 2nd half of the season over the last 3 seasons.

NBA Favorites of 10 or more points (MILWAUKEE) - off a home loss by 10 points or more against opponent off a home win are just 9-29 ATS L/27 seasons for a go against 76% conversion rate for bettors. (Bucks lost 123-97 to Miami last time out while the Grizz beat Houston by a 121-113 count)

Memphis has won and covered their L/2 meetings at home vs Milwaukee and have covered 6 of the L/7 meetings in this series.
