Toronto Raptors vs. New York Knicks Predictions

The Knicks come off a road victory Saturday in New Orleans where R.J. Barrett was the story. Even after the Knicks nearly blew a double-digit lead, Barrett helped stabilize the Knicks. The start for New York seems historic. It’s the first time in nine years they’ve started with a winning record through six games. Julius Randle is going to be a terror for the Raptors.

Toronto has a couple of bright spots – including rookie Scottie Barnes who continues to put up great numbers. The problem is the Raptors don’t have a standalone scorer who can consistently take over games. The Raptors must outscore their early season average of 103.7 PPG, way too low to keep up with New York.

The Raptors are thin up front in trying to limit Randle with Previous Achiuwa and a rotation of bigs. Fred VanVleet has helped fuel the recent Raptors run, but the Knicks get most of their productivity from their three guards combined.

The Toronto point guard combined with the rookie Barnes will have to outscore the trio of Knicks guard. Derrick Rose, Evan Fournier, and Kemba Walker combine for the most productivity on the Knicks.

The major difference in the Raptors is clearly Barnes fitting right in with the NBA. He’s been a huge addition offensively, allowing VanVleet to become more of a distributor. The Raptors come into this game winners of three straight, with Barnes at 20 PPG during the stretch. OG Anunoby will be charged with slowing down Barrett, and Gary Trent Jr. will be on a rotation of the Knicks backcourt. The Raptors are a defense-first team with some sneaky scoring, but the Knicks have moved past that persona and can put up points with anyone in the league.

The Knicks aren’t just Randle and a bunch of guards – at least not after Saturday night. The growth of Barrett into a two-way player could be pivotal in the Knicks season. They continue to get offensive productivity – scoring over 100 points in each of their six games. Randle has been on a slide as of the past three games, all Knicks wins.

Toronto Raptors vs. New York Knicks Betting Conclusion

New York hosting this game is huge, plus Toronto needed their three-game win streak to narrowly get above .500 on the year. We are back to it being difficult to scrap out a win at MSG, and Toronto simply doesn’t have the offensive firepower to do so.
