Golden State Warriors vs. Brooklyn Nets Predictions

After a somewhat surprising elimination from last year’s Play-In Tournament, Golden State stormed out to an excellent start to the new season – highlighted by the Warriors finishing October at a sturdy 5-1 mark, with their only loss across that span coming in a hard-fought battle against the Grizzles (L, 104-101 OT).

The Warriors’ hot start wasn’t just a flash in the pan either, considering Golden State enters Tuesday’s matchup boasting wins in six-of-seven games since the onset of November – which includes commanding victories over the Bulls, Hawks, and Pelicans.

On the other hand, Brooklyn posted a head-scratching 2-3 start to the season, as the Nets kicked off the year with a trio of double-digit losses to the Bucks, Hornets, and Heat – along with a pair of solid victories over the Sixers and Wizards to complete their first five contests.

Brooklyn quickly countered its slow start though, considering the Nets already enter Tuesday’s event following wins in eight of the last nine games – with Brooklyn’s only loss across that window coming on the second half of a back-to-back in Chicago (L, 118-95).

I’ll lay the points with the Nets here, as Brooklyn’s struggles typically come in matchups against deeper frontcourts that thrive on physicality in the paint like Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Miami – but against run-and-gun squads like Golden State, I expect to see the Nets shine.

Golden State Warriors Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-2
  • ATS: 8-4-1
  • O/U: 4-9

After getting eliminated from last year’s Play-In Tournament with heartbreaking losses to Lakers (L, 103- 100) and Grizzlies (L, 117-112 OT), Golden State claimed some temporary redemption to start the new season, as Warriors visited the Staples Center on opening night to face the Lakers – and cruised to a comfortable seven-point victory (W, 121-114).

Golden State has kept its revenge tour alive through November too, as the Warriors enter Tuesday’s event following wins in six of their last seven games. What’s even more impressive though, is how Golden State is winning these games, considering the Warriors currently lead the league in both scoring and effective field-goal percentage (115.1 PPG, 55.4% EFG).

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 10-4
  • ATS: 7-7
  • O/U: 5-9

Brooklyn may trail the Warriors in average scoring by a healthy margin, highlighted by Golden State averaging 115.1 PPG to the 15th ranked Nets’ 108.5 PPG – but the same cannot be said across several other scoring departments.

Golden State naturally predicates its offensive attack around three-point shooting, which is ideal with Steph Curry running the point – but the Warriors haven’t necessarily yielded stellar numbers from long- range thus far, considering Golden State ranks just 12th in three-point percentage at 35.8% FG, while Brooklyn leads the league at 39.3% FG.

With Golden State bombing over seven more three-point attempts per game than Brooklyn though, these teams’ advanced shooting numbers level out almost identically, with Golden State (55.4 EFG%) receiving a slight edge over Brooklyn in effective field-goal percentage - and Brooklyn (116.4 TS%) gaining a slight edge over Golden State (116.3 TS%) in true shooting.

Golden State Warriors vs. Brooklyn Nets Head-to-Head

The Nets swept a two-game regular-season set against Golden State last year, with both matchups going over the total set for Tuesday’s affair at a lofty average of 237.5 PPG.

The results from last year’s events should be taken with a grain of salt though, considering the first event took place prior to the acquisition of James Harden – while the second was played with Kyrie Irving, who remains sidelined for Tuesday’s matchup.

Key Players to Watch

  • GSW: Steph Curry - PG (28.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.7 apg)
  • GSW: Andrew Wiggins - SF (18 ppg, 4.6 rpg)
  • BKN: Kevin Durant - PF (29.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 5.1 apg)
  • BKN: James Harden - SG (19.5 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 9.3 apg)

Golden State Warriors vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Conclusion

After snapping a seven-game win streak with a loss to Charlotte on Sunday night, the Warriors will head to Brooklyn for Tuesday’s matchup as slim road underdogs against the Nets at the Barclays Center – marking the first time Golden State has been an underdog since visiting the Lakers on opening night.

I’ll lay the points with Brooklyn here, as the Nets went the distance against the reigning champs in a playoff series without Irving – so ultimately, I expect Brooklyn to prevail at home against squads possessing slightly less versatility like Golden State.
