New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets Predictions

After finishing fourth in the East with a record of 41-31 last year, New York managed to keep the ball rolling with an excellent start to this season, as the Knicks closed October at an impressive 5-1 mark – which included solid victories over the Sixers, Celtics, and Bucks.

The Knicks have somewhat struggled throughout November though, considering New York enters Tuesday’s contest following losses in eight of the last 14 games – with half of those defeats coming by nine points or more.

On the other hand, Brooklyn stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start to the new season, as the Nets opened with losses in three of their first five games – with all three of those losses coming by 13 PTS or more (MIL, CHA, MIA).

Brooklyn quickly turned things around in November though, as the Nets now enter Tuesday’s contest following wins in 12 of the last 15 games – with their only losses coming in considerably tough matchups against the Warriors, Suns, and Bulls.

I’ll lay the points with Brooklyn here, as the Knicks are 4-5 while averaging just 99.7 PPG across their latest nine-game stretch – which won’t be nearly enough offensive firepower to keep up with the Nets at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.

New York Knicks Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-9
  • ATS: 9-11
  • O/U: 7-13

New York’s overwhelming success might have been the league’s biggest surprise last season, as the Knicks finished fourth in the East with a remarkable tally of 41-31 – earning much-needed homecourt advantage over Atlanta in the opening round of the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the Knicks’ valiant regular-season effort didn’t blossom into anything noteworthy, considering New York looked completely outmatched by the Hawks at both ends of the floor during the first round of last year’s playoffs – resulting in a quick five-game series victory for Atlanta.

The Knicks’ inconsistency makes them nearly impossible to evaluate on a day-to-day basis, and an intriguing underdog play – but in road matchups against heavyweight contenders like the Nets, I’d steer clear of New York.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 14-6
  • ATS: 8-11-1
  • O/U: 9-11

After sputtering out of the gate to a 2-3 start the season, Brooklyn quickly found its rhythm during the back-half of October, as the Nets now enter Tuesday’s event riding a sturdy 12-3 SU run.

Brooklyn ranks just 11th in the league in overall scoring (109.5 PPG), but don’t be fooled by that relatively pedestrian number – the Nets are still one of the league’s most efficient bunches offensively, as they currently rank 2nd in three-point percentage and 3rd in true shooting (37.5 % 3FG, 115.2% TS).

New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets Head-to-Head

Brooklyn swept a three-game regular-season set against the Knicks last year, with all three of those matchups soaring over the total at a lofty average of 226.7 PPG.

Kyrie Irving did not participate in the first of those three matchups – while Kevin Durant did not participate in the remaining two.

Key Players to Watch

  • NYK: Julius Randle - PF (19.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg)
  • NYK: R.J. Barrett - SF (14.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg)
  • BKN: Kevin Durant - SF (28.6 ppg, 7.6 rpg)
  • BKN: James Harden - SG (20.3 ppg, 9.4 apg)

New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Conclusion

After having a four-game winning streak snapped by Phoenix on Saturday night (L, 113-107), the Nets enter Tuesday’s contest as a six-point favorite over the visiting Knicks – marking the third straight game New York has been an underdog in.

I’ll lay the points with Brooklyn here, as the Knicks are averaging just 99.7 PPG across their latest nine-game stretch – and I doubt they’ll be able to keep up with this red-hot Brooklyn squad on Tuesday night.
