Things went from bad to nuclear with the latest injury news surrounding the Portland Trailblazers. Already down Damian Lillard, the team will be without CJ McCollum indefinitely with a collapsed lung. If that’s not enough, the team will tip Wednesday night at Golden State at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors Predictions

The Blazers have dropped three straight, the latest game coming without either of their dynamic backcourt playing. They have that similar problem – and possibly no Anfernee Simons either. The Blazers only average 108.7 PPG as a team and could be down a combined 54 PPG if all three sit.

Even if Simons plays, what can the Blazers truly do to slow down one of the best two- way teams in the NBA – if not the best. Steph Curry has his sights set on passing Ray Allen as the all-time 3-point champ, not backups on the Blazers. Portland has zero shot in winning this game, they have little shot in keeping this close.

While everyone is focusing on the amazing offensive product that is the Curry brand, Draymond Green is leading the league’s best scoring defense. The Blazers don’t have their top two point producers and will be relying on bench players, which is a terrible combination for any game against the Warriors. Green and Kevon Looney will do enough to physically grind Jusuf Nurkic to a halt. This game has blowout written all over it.

The Blazers season is defined by injury and drama. The two biggest pieces of news in the NBA on Tuesday had to do with Portland; the horrible lung injury to McCollum and Lillard trade/extension drama.

It’s having a serious impact on the floor, especially with other key players going down like Simons. The Blazers have a better shot of trading for then starting Ben Simmons on Wednesday night than they do beating the Warriors. It’s just a culmination of bad basketball and lack of any star power for Portland.

Golden State is not dealing with anything but a matter of when Curry breaks Allen’s record. They are the 3rd-best scoring offense and give up less points than anyone else in the NBA. They have one of the most prolific scorers in the game in Curry, and the defensive player of the year in Green.

The team has won eight of ten and one of those losses came to the Suns. Phoenix will provide the necessary incentive to keep Golden State playing in games to avoid falling behind in the division.

Portland Trail Blazers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-14
  • ATS: 9-16
  • O/U: 12-13

Lillard and McCollum are the Blazers offense. They average 21.5 and 20.6 PPG, respectively. Missing them is one thing, then add the 12 PPG that Simons brings. Normal Powell averages 17 PPG off 47.5 percent shooting. Nurkic averages 13.4 PPG and 10.2 RPG while shooting 59 percent from the field. Nobody else on the Blazers has stood out even averaging double-figures.

Golden State Warriors Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 20-4
  • ATS: 17-6-1
  • O/U: 7-16-1

Curry is the main vehicle in the convoy that is the Warriors offense. Curry averages 27.7 PPG, and 6.5 APG and 5.6 RPG. Andrew Wiggins adds 18.7 PPG off 49 percent shooting. Jordan Poole is at 17.9 PPG and shooting 45 percent. Green averages 8.2 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 7.6 APG.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors Head-to-Head

This is the second time these two teams will square off against each other. Despite getting a full production load from both Lillard and McCollum last time, the Blazers still fell 118-103. Now Portland will be without both of their star backcourt players.

Key Players to Watch

  • POR: Jusuf Nurkic - C (13.4 ppg, 10.2 rpg)
  • POR: Norman Powell - F (17 ppg)
  • GSW: Steph Curry - G (27.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 6.5 apg)
  • GSW: Andrew Wiggins - F (18.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg)

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Conclusion

The Blazers have lost 10 of 11 on the road and are reeling with all these injuries. If you want something a little juicer then consider the Warriors 11-3-1 ATS at home, covering home spreads by an average of 16.5 PPG. The Blazers weren’t great even when they were healthy, being down key players spells blowout loss on the road.
